Since these posts come from people in every part, political colour, and social class, I like to think its a somewhat accurate profile of what Canadians truly think--much more accurate then those stupid YES/NO polls on Global Television! I've come to this conclusion--we Canadians are the luckiest SOBs on the face of the planet. Think about it, while many people all over the world deal with daily struggles to feed themselves or survive another suicide bomber, the best things Canadians can find to complain about is how stupid bilingualism policies are or Stephen Harper's haircut. Yes, of course, we have our ongoing boxing match between Alberta and Ontario, which is more or less a pissing contest to see who has bragging rights to make other provences feel like worthless crap. In the end though, I think the mere face that we get into heated debates over which provence "is the best" is a testimate to the fact that we ALL are lucky fuckers to have been born in Canada!
That's my two cents.
I almost agree whit you.It is true that we have stupid fight sometimes. You do have some interesting stuff to say so keep posting.
I liked you post... it is nice that we have a good mix from across Canada, and you might also notice that most of the ultra-conservatives on the site are Americans... good to have them in the mix as well, though!
I'll let you in on a little secret... the Atlantic Provinces let the kids out west fight over who has the biggest piggy banks, but we know where the best places in Canada really are!!
Have a good one from the East...
I usually consider myself lucky to live in Canada & especially in Ontario, because of the crazy weather elsewhere. We don't have devastating earthquakes, hurricanes, floods (usually), droughts, etc. Just wicked temperatures. & of course snow!!
Yup, definitely the best country in the world!! Canada Kicks Ass!!!
I've been in some of the biggest cesspits on earth and I'd have to agree that Canada is the best of the best. But, that doesn't mean that it couldn't be better. We have to make sure that people don't become too complacent. Restructuring the taxation system would be a definite improvement, getting rid of a lot of the superlifous bureaucracy in gov't departments like health and education would make sure that the funds got to those that really need it, like the students and patients. We need to implement stricter pollution controls so we can once again brag about pristine air and water and let the police do their jobs , instead of being some catch and release outfit.
this topic was covered once a long time ago but its still nice to see people realise just how good we have it here.. ive been around the world and can say from first hand experience, that we live like royalty compared to about 80% of the rest of the world. we sleep with our doors unlocked for the most part.. we can practice what ever religion we are with out worrying if some one will come for us in the middle of the night.. we can openly mock our leaders with out fear of retribution.. we can pick our leaders in free elections.. we can travel from one coast to the other with out having to get permission or "travel Documents" .. We can have who we want as our friends.. we can gather in public places to celebrate or to mourn as we see fit...some here in Canada are on the "system' because they really need to be no fault of thier own.. and in one month are given what another man may work a year to get paid...we take fairly good care of our elderly.. our health system isnt the worst in the world either.. our education system is one of the worlds best .. I could go on but I think you all know what im getting at...I am a Canadian and when I say that i say it with a fierce pride, and a lump in my throat...
I agree with you. I wish there was some way we could impart that wisdom to all the people who want to shit on people because it's -gasp!- not perfect.
When I read that I get more and more envy, dudes... Please don't stop and give me the canadian citizenship!!! You're really lucky, man, to be born in Canada!
