wasn't his budget projected before the election......didn't it say that he had enough money.

Well, I don't think anyone thought the Con defence promises would be cheap. It was the only thing I liked about their platform. I suppose if they last long enough they might get a couple of these pushed through.

I think protecting Canada's soverignty in the north may prove to be importaint. It is certainly an issue for the government.

With global warming there will probably be more traffic along the northwest passage, that may prove to be very important to Canada's north and to the Inuit.

A thought for you to ponder! The US Navy uses the northern route through Canadian declared territory like I use my driveway, daily! The fact we know about the yanks using it means there are more than likely far more people using it without the press talking about it. There are far more nations with subs than the yanks. Hell, even the Iranians have subs that can move in Canadian waters.

And for all you crying sacks of Liberal shits. You lost, get over it! Harper gave out a wish list of things they want to do. The Conservatives never said they would do it all over night. In some cases the new eequipment will be brought on board after the next election. And from the way the Bloc has been appluading the Conservatives, it could be a while. The days of Liberal dictatorship are gone. The people of Canada want a say, only Liberals want a dictoral socialist agenda. Why don't you all move to the North and start a new country.

Love always,

Samantha :D

IMHO it would be money well spent for Canada to leave a big, fat footprint in the far North. You just can't beat having 'boots on the ground' somewhere when the place gets interesting ie, natural resources and navigable waters start making an appearance. It's not the best of analogies - but look at what happened when a short sighted British (Tory) Government signalled its intention to decommission the Royal Navy's Antarctic survey vessel HMS Endurance - the Falklands War. Now not for a minute am I suggesting Canada and the US trading shots anytime in the future - but the point about other countries' navies is well made. And it certainly doesn't hurt letting Washington DC know that Canada is serious about its sovereignty in the North. But I suppose the question for Mr Harper's government is - will Canadian taxpayers stump up for the $5.3bn bill - or more? And that's down to people like you in this forum....

Well that has yet to be determined by 'just watch me' Gordon O'Connor. The last Canadian in office to utter that sediment issued the war measures act so I think we are in for major spending.
