There were a lot of fine folks settled around here rather than go to Nam. There were also some pretty screwed up people who came here rather than go back to Nam. I can't blame them. There's gonna be a wave of them here too over not wanting to go back to Iraq. From what a lot of Americans I talk to outside this forum the US military is shoving their human wreckage off the planes and yelling, "Go screw yourself." at them as they tumble down the steps.

I tell you someone we should send back is that idiot doctor from Iran who is mouthing off over here about what the Iranian government did or didn't do to an Iranian citizen without his showing us a shred of evidence. Ship the bugger back to Tehran and tell him to come back when he gets out of prison.

That is really off topic, but i will reply. do you really think she died in jail?
like they said?

We have to many asians here. I'm in Calgary and we have little gang war going on with the asian gangs goingat each other. So I believe we don't need anymore asians. Just my 2 cents.

Probably. In recent memory a guy got his leg broken in the Belleville jail and the SIU decided there was no fault with the cops. A while before that they shot a guy to death just off Front Street in Belleville and the SIU decided that was cool. The Belleville cops or the OPP could stake a guy out on the 401 to be run over by transports and the SIU would decide there was no problem even if the CBC taped the whole freaking thing. I'm sure it's the same in the other provinces. Why does anyone want to to poke their nose into someting they have no business with and cast blame because someone carrying a passport from another country was caught doing something that is wrong in that country and the cops maybe got a bit too rough, when they don't give a fiddler's fart if the same damned thing happens in Ontario? She was stupid to go there and think it was a cakewalk. I would feel differently if she were somewhere using her Canadian passport, but she wasn't. Canada and Canadians have no right to bother with this.

Bah, I'll likely be off the running topic, but certainly on the topic of immigration.

It's currently in a ridiculous state. If someone in the USA falls in love with a Canadian and they wish to live in Canada, they can be in for a long wait. The USA side of the relationship is in for years of wait, and constant hands out from immigration for more money. You'll have spent over 2K in two years. The longer they drag it out, the longer you have to keep renewing your visitor pass which represents nothing (it gives you no rights to exit or enter the country). Every so often immigration will pretend to lose your renewal fee and ask for near triple the price to get the visitor pass, until you battle over the phone with them for a few months and they suddenly realize their error, all the while pushing your file back even more.

Does it matter that the USA side can actually make more money in Canada and can fill in and help and industry that Canada is lacking participants? No. Does it matter that they're happily married? No.

So a spouse to a Canadian after 2 years is not offered health care, or a job permit so they can give back to the country.

They can speak english, know the geography and history of Canada, and can be an active participant of the community giving back to the country and it's inhabitants.

I can understand that it costs money to come to Canada, but does any of that money help tax payers? Not likely.

Anyhow, that's my incomplete short rant for now. I must eat.

Cheers,

K

I agree fully.

If I manage to get my family to Canada, our Children who have never been to Canada before but are simply born to a Canadian father ( me :) ) will be full citizens, but my wife is in for a years wait and my adopted daughter as well.

Of course besides that is the money issue. Which reminds me.. see my posting ( help a Canadian family) or website www.canadianfamily.bravehost.com for our story.

Pro-Choice = the right to murder the unborn as an expression of rampant feminism hijacked by leftists under the guise of women's rights.

What a spin eh? The malevolence of the left has convinced women to go against their very nature as life givers in killing inside them the very essence of what makes them women.

State sanctioned murder a la Terri Schiavo.

That's why we need more immigrants because we can't sustain our population if we abort ourselves into non existence.

I'm fully aware of the wait time and cost to immigrate. As an American applying for Permentent Resident, which will turn into Canadian Citizen possibly after three years, I will have to spend close to 2.5 thousand American dollars for the application fee, the PR fee, the "landing" fee, and medical check ups. Also, from my daily reading on the net from Canada's CIC to unoffical sites and forums I know my wait time is at least a year, perhaps two and a half.
But you know what, my wife and I want this for ourselves and for our two children. We're both civil servants, giving to Canada, I assume we will be well received, I hope. But, if we want to exptariate/ immigrate, then it'll be worth it.

K, I am sorry about your situation, I do wish you luck.

In this thread, should we be differentiating between legal and illegal immigrants in Canada?
