Fix the problems at home first, then and only then do we help others. When is a 3rd world country going to help us. ?

Only time they help us is by sending us more people to support here.

I'm sick of organizations like World Vision that just act like life support for a dying country... at least with this, they can start standing on their own feet, and stop relying on our help.

   

And to say that some of the reknown charities' money never even reaches the people who actually need it.

The people of third world countries NEED to have their debts forgiven, and have earned it through blood, sweat, and starvation.

Need is not a way of earning anything. This has nothing to do with compensation for something... it is 100% charity, which I am usually OK with as long as it is not spent on guns or given to corrupt 3rd world governments. There are limits to what Canada has to offer, so I'd watch to make sure that we don't give more than we can afford, but helping out those in dire need is the kind thing to do... and Canada likes to be seen internationally as being kind.

...and about the poem: mostly quite objectionable, but at least he didn't include the links this time.

   

It wasn't just me. This guy is playing this tune LOUD.

   

Most of it is odious debt anyway...loaned to governments who were not acting in the best interests of their people. The reason it is being forgiven now is that if these nations start claiming odious debt and it ends up in court, a whole bunch of bankers and corporations and politicians all over the world are going to have some rather embarrassing facts revealed about them.

That makes it expedient for them to forgive the debts.

Besides, most of these debts are repaid to the tune of about $13 for every dollar originally borrowed.

   

You do realize that threats against a particular person's life is against the law, right?
