Youth gets away with attempted murder due to age
SJ-24 @ Mon Jan 08, 2007 1:10 pm
Yup, the Liberal Youth Law strikes again. This little bastard stabs another kid and instead of being jailed, he went home to play with his PSP and brag to his friends about how tough he is. If Harper's government had its way, this kid would be in a youth jail being treated for what appears to be a behavior problem. I would be interested to know what his school records show. Does he have a record of bad behavior? If so, will he be allowed back into school?
I think this snot is in need of a little jail time and shock therapy, not a Liberal sponsored hug.

Boy stabs youth after hockey game in park
Hawkesbury boy too young to face criminal charges
By DONNA CASEY -- Ottawa Sun
A game of pick-up hockey between two groups of pre-teens in a Hawkesbury park ended in violence last week when, police say, a 12-year-old boy was stabbed by an 11-year-old boy.
Two groups of youths were playing hockey at Old Mill Park near James St. in Hawkesbury on Jan. 4 shortly after 6 p.m. when an argument broke out between two players over a fellow player getting injured during the game.
The verbal tussle escalated between two boys, with a 12-year-old getting stabbed in the shoulder area. The boy was taken to the Hawkesbury General Hospital, treated for non-life-threatening injuries and later released.
The 11-year-old suspect won't face criminal charges due to his age. Under the Criminal Code of Canada, children under 12 can't face criminal charges.on,
Police notified the Children's Aid Society of the incident.
I think we should lower the age to ten, most twelve year olds no right from wrong. What was this boy doing with a knife? Why carry a weapon at ten years of age? God help us when these kids grow up, they have a sense of entitlement that is beyond narcasisstic.

Gee, I wonder what could be stopping them....Perhaps a Liberal opposition that isn't interested in revising the criminal system, and a Liberal dominated Senate that shoots down, stalls, completely rewrites and sends back. What the hell do these "Old Guard Buddies" know about what the people want. they are so far from living your and my life that all they know is that they must stall everything until the Liberals get back into power. There is a reason most people support an elected senate. Without it you either get a rubber stamp, or something so messed up as a senate that can't work independently.

We all did.
Who's we all, and what the hell third world country did you grow up in that you needed a weapon at that age. Funny that you think people should not be allowed to carry a weapon when they are adults.

I carry around a knife sometimes, not normally. Less then I used to.
Avro Avro:
Then what's stopping Harper's government, if it' that important should they not risk an election over it?
On the contrary, Harper just punished his minister responsible for the matter.
The unfortunate minister had hinted that criminals as young as ten would be tried as adults!
Unfortunately, he forgot that it was not a vicious conservative meeting, but the press that he was talking to.
Harper just demoted him and gave him a position where he has to work hard and not be much in the public eye!
Harper knows very well that all this talk about child criminals is for his unwashed, unread 'con'-stituency, but has no place in world politics.

Maple, it is rather easy to consider yourself a great parent when your kids are only seven years of age. Problems with girls usually start at the age puberty. In fact, the craze among thirteen year old girls last year was the fact that they competed to provide oral gratification to their male friends!
But even if you are doing an exceptional job, the fact remains that though parents wish to have the best kids in the world, in most cases they find the result disappointing. Kids do drugs, sex, crime and you name it, and their parents are as disappointed in them as society is, if not more.
The point is that when kids get into trouble, by your own logic, you are punishing them for their parent's inability to put them on the straight and narrow path. Perhaps instead of criminal sentences, we need to spend more on research to study child psychology. We could thereby identify the high risk kids and keep them safe from themselves.
Presently, I think psychiatrists are just a bunch of snake oil salesmen. Recently in Toronto we had a case where a father threw his daughter over a bridge. He got access to his daughter against the pleas of the mother, because a psychiatrist certified that he was quite harmless and it was safe for him to have visiting rights to see his daughter!
Until head shrinkers can do a better job, we need to be more patient with kids who make mistakes.
