That's funny, good link though, but you really think it was goldsmiths in the middle ages who first began to 'concentrate wealth'? It wasn't til late middle ages that there was even a middle class, before that, and pretty much throughout western cultures history, there were rich people and poor people, that's it.

Simply creating a monetary system doesn't make political theories come true. Even usury had its beginnings with jews who had no rights to property and so had to charge exhorbitant interest rates, even swiss secret bank account began by good hearted bankers to hide jews money from the german government. As they say, no good deed goes unpunished, and no good deed can't inspire an equally evil one in the wrong hands.

Canada's monetary system isn't 'radically' different from the seventies, the biggest difference is policy. As is stated in another thread, Canada invests more internationally than is invested here, statistics canada estimates 120 billion hidden in tax havens, 48 billion sits in an EI surplus fund, and canada now has the highest number of billionaires per capita. People can blame 'theories' or 'americans' or whatever they want, the reality is that Canada is awash in wealth and it is CANADIANS sitting in Ottawa-specifically liberals (who draft policy) who are making sure canadians don't share in their own wealth. Unfortunately, runner up number two doesn't really want to change that, and number three is WAY behind.

However, good link to video on the net. If you use a peer to peer service check out the banned commercial by Radiohead and Ewan MacGregor on currency speculators. It's graphic, but it needs to be. Just type in one of those words to find it.
