Trudeau hated sovereignists. He was too happy to have the FLQ kidnapping two politicians to send the army in Montréal. Who was the FLQ ??? A bunch of teenagers... They were threatening all the population of Montréal and Québec province ??? Not a chance... But they were threatening the futur of Canada yes.

Why send the army in Montréal ??? Not to protect the population... but to protect the united NATION of Canada. A good politician that TRudeau, like Québec produce a lot of them. But he was on the wrong side !!!
He let everyone in Canada and Québec think that FLQ was going to kill and kill everyone out here. Not a chance... Pierre Laporte was killed yes... that's wrong. Some say it was an accident... it wasn't meant to be that way.
Then how do you explain the bombings, the hold-ups and at least 3 deads by bombs and 2 by gun shots as stated by the wikipedia encyclopedia.

The FLQ were terrorists like the MIPT Terrorism Knowledge database says. That IS why Trudeau sent in the army, to protect innocent Québécois and Québécoises and to stop a possible rise of violence. Nothing more nothing less.

I don't care about those red necks. I am going to vote for the Bloc again, like everybody here. I don't care if you choose between red necks or bandits to run your country. I am going to vote for the Bloc again. Same question than last year, same answer than last year: The Bloc.
We like that word nowadays don't we hey ???

FLQ were guys that wanted to get rid of some canadian rule in Québec. They used hard methods yes... that Pierre Laporte wasn't supposed to be killed. There's a movie about that episode. You've seen it ?

I know an honorable man of 78 years old that gave them some support. He told me there were a bunch of young guys... idealists. Not terrorists like the ones you and I see on TV nowadays. Geee...

That Mr Pierre Laporte that was killed, he was kidnapped in my hometown Merlin. Saint-Lambert, on the south shore of Montréal. In the driveway of his house, a few streets from the high school where I went. My parents told me about that story. Québécois know the real story...

Those guys didn't want to kill "innocent Québécois" as you say. They wanted to put pressure on the canadian rule... to give Québec a country by force. You really think they wanted to kill "innocent people". Geee... come on, be serious.

Trudeau's "lois de mesures de guerre" were excessive. End of the story. He capitalized on that death that wasn't supposed to happen. This FLQ was threatening national unity not the people... come on.

Believe what you want. Believe the "canadian" version of it. Believe that Wikipedia describing them as terrorists. I grew up in the city where Mr Pierre Laporte was kidnapped... think about it. But my "sovereignist québécois version" is certainly biased isn't it ??? No definitely guys, there's nothing you can understand about Québec... but still we are willing to let you discover our beautiful futur country. We invite you all in a "love-in" in Montréal after the OUI vote in 2008.

They were only a bunch of idealists agressive guys. Extremists but not terrorists... Be careful with the words... like treating Québécois as antisemitists... all of us... come on ! Like everywhere, there's some but not all of us !!!! That's only racism.

And we will get our country by democracy and politics count on us.

Louis Riel that Métis in Manitoba defend his Métis Nation from some canadian invasion. He was killed.

" Les chiens du Québec peuvent aboyer, Louis Riel sera pendu. " dixit John A. MacDonald

Let's all wouf together... wouf wouf wouf.

Québec's history also has its black pages but let's stop fighting give us our country... help us to split in peace. Like Tchekoslovaquia...

Why do you need us ??? Oh yeah... I forgot... to have that country coast to coast... that's all. Don't try to "love us". We do love you Canada also... as a different country.

80 millions of canadian dollars to put flags in Québec... 80 millions do you imagine ??? And the sovereignist vote is still on the same level. Geee... how much money are you willing to pay to keep us ???

I am willing to buy for 100 $ of Québécois flags. I'll give 20$ of commission to anyone in the ROC accept to put it in front of his house. Anybody ???

80 Millions of canadian dollars of flags ??? A real joke. Gimme 1 million of dollars annually and maybe I'll stay in Canada. I am not insensitive to money ! ... unfortunately. But I doubt you would spend to amout for a country that's not working. A million for Michou, a million for Samuel, a million to 747... and another one for Aldebaran... so that we stop annoying you.

It's negociable my friends...

Send me the flag and $20 U.S. and I'll happily fly it. It's quite attractive.

Okay, I'll settle for $20 Canadian...no reason to get greedy.

Whoops, guess we're a bit off topic.

Does this mean I don't get the twenty?

Sorry, my greed got the better of me.

As to the original article, I'm not surprised.

I didn't mean the warning for anyone in particular, just a friendly reminder to everyone what the subject is. There's other threads to discuss some of these points.
As to the original article, I'm not surprised.
But I agree. People don't want an election, they want the government to get down to work like the rest of us. If the Conservatives are dead set on going against the people's wishes, they'll pay for it.

I am satisfied that an election after the Gomrey report is justified. I don't believe the PM any more than I believe any other Liberal, that he'll live up to his promise. But that will come out next election if he doesn't
Calumny @ Sat Apr 30, 2005 3:12 pm

With an election being inevitable at some point, we should be decidin as a 'Bloc' as it were where our votes could be best placed and having done so, start putting some pressure on that party re: platform, rather than leaving it to them to decide what they'll present as it generally the case.

The situation the ROC is in with the Libs and RefCons is absurd. While I understand why the Libs made it in the last election, it remains embarassing, to say the least.

Both the black and white cats need to be on the sidelines. Neither a RefCon or Lib minority or majority is acceptable.

So, where do we turn?

(Yes, dino, I know. But, I have real problems voting for a Layton led NDP.).

Maybe Samuel and I should just form our own party and dispense with political weasels entirely.

I mean, geez, I have no problem with sovereign anyone doing what's best for them and chipping in for agreed upon expenses, e.g., army, social services, etc., so where's the problem?

Reverend Blair @ Sat Apr 30, 2005 7:37 pm
But I agree. People don't want an election,
I do. I love elections. I have my favourites but when it comes to elections I don't even care who is running, I just like watching them rip and tear. I've been likening it to a combination between a NASCAR crash and a hockey fight elsewhere. There are few things more entertaining. It sure beats tossing cards into a hat or throwing bottle caps at the cats or watching those shows Mrs. Rev likes.

The really big problem is that our leaders seem to have even worse reasons for elections than I have.

MadeInCanada @ Sun Jun 19, 2005 6:18 pm

I think with a population as apathetic and uninterested as Canadians can be, you can't expect great governments. The role of the people in a democracy is to stay abreast of issues and keep the government accountable. If the people do not hold up their end, no one can expect the Government to do the same.

I was dying to vote Conservative in the next election, dying to vote anything but Liberal. Now, after watching the CPC be openly sexist towards Belinda Stronach, to see the CPC trying to frame Ujjal Dosanjh using doctored tapes and Spying 101 techniques after months of accusing the Libs of being corrupt, I am more cynical than ever. So I'm going to vote for the guy who turned the country around and stopped using the credit card to pay for social programs.

Liberal 4 Life.
