Tax cuts increase our taxes
The Conservative platform is simple: cut taxes to give more money to Harper's corporate sponsors and make up policies that support this outragous theft of our tax dollars. The current federal surplus (yes, we have surplus!!!) is $9 billion. Harper is promising $30 billion in tax cuts and $45 billion in new spending. Where does the money come from? He will borrow it, like his buddy George does South of the border. I hear China has a huge surplus, they don't mind loaning money to impoverished Western countries with real high interest. So what does $75 billion buy us? It ads roughly $8 billion a year in interest payments. That's $8 billion not available for other things, such as health care. In 4 years it's $32 billion, which is very close to the huge deficit that the neocons ran during Mulroney's nightmarish years. If they win another election, make it $64 billion. It gets worse: like South of the border, the Harper government will probably intoduce new tax cuts every year. It's very possible that the new interest payments alone will exceed $100 billion annually. Does that strike anyone as good fiscal management?

It takes a very supid person to live on VISA and borrow more money to add to his debt every month. Sanity would require a reality check. A person not living within his/her means will end up bankrupt. Good fiscal management requires spending only as mush as you make and methodically elliminating your debt.

If PM Harper gets the message that the country is going bakrupt under his watch, what will he do to reduce the deficit? Naturally, he will cut programs. Elliminated programs will drive up user fees and take more money out of our pocket than we get out of the tax cuts. Harper will do what all conservative governments do: download expenses to the provinces who will download to the municipalities who will download to the home owners. Most Conservative voters are home owners. They should go easy on celebrating their tax cuts since it will result in gigantic increases in their property taxes. I think the phenomenon is called "giving a pile of shit a slap in the face."

I am a Canadian tax payer. I want the money I pay into the common purse to pay for programs I like: health care, education, infrastructure. I do not want MY TAX MONEY to become corporate profit and feed the hogs at the trough (aka stock holders). Did the Liberals really waste our money? The sponsorship mismanagement is barely a drop in the bucket, considering Canada's GDP and the Cons would have done worse. I say let's get over this and let's not allow Harper to destroy waht's great about Canada, once and for all.
"and they all lived happily ever after"

40% of US national debt is owed to China and Japan and Americans are drowning in interest payments. The only reason China and Japan are lending money to the US is that they want to maintain American buying power, for their own good. For short: the United States is bankrupt and kept alive only to buy Chinese and Japanese goods. Sort of like the eloi in the movie version of H.G. Well's Time machine. The Chinese are the morlocks. Today, over 3/4 of new jobs created in the US are low paying medial jobs and the fastest growing occupation South of the border is stuffing shelves at WalMart. The only things America still makes are the products required by the construction industry. However, the housing boom is now over and the real estate crash is near. America the great is now completely dependent on imports for manufactured goods, energy, and even services. Internationally, the US is becoming the most hated and despised country on Earth.

So what caused this unprecedented tragedy? Until the 80s America was the symbol of freedom and democracy in the World, sporting the highest standard of living, a great (greatest) industry in the World, World leader in technology and science, etc. The greatest country in the World has been hijacked by ultra conservative nutcases. In only a few years they managed to bankrupt the richest country in the World. They also managed to completely destroy America's image internationally. The damage done by these brown shirts might never be undone, America may never get another chance. Since 90% of our exports go there, the inevitable US economic crash will take us down as well. China and Europe will emerge as the new superpowers, with China having the edge in everythign except technology, at least for the time being.

Brought to you by the high treason of US neo-con fascists. Coming to a neighbourhood near you, courtesy of Stephen Harper's National Socialist party.

That is, fascism is a partnership of big business with big government. Nazi Germany was very much in bed with big business. British and American bankers helped Hitler's rise to power. Ford and GM built German tanks. IBM built accounting machines used in the death camps. Prescott Bush, GW's granddaddy was one of Hitler's bankers. While allied soldiers and sailors, including Americans, were getting shot at by Germans, Esso was shipping oil to Germany. Much of the British and American aristocracy actively rooted for and abetted Germany; even during the war.

As to Harper. A couple of years ago, Harper was urging Canada to join with Bush's insane war in Iraq with the excuse that we have to support our American friends or there will be consequences. What was his motive? I think he was expressing his corporatist masters' wishes. To that extent, yes, Harper is a fascist. I will admit that Nazi is a bit strong.

After WWI the German economy crashed. In the 1920s millions of German mothers were seen going through garbage in landfill sites, looking for food. An entire generation of Germans grew up malnourished. When the German mark lost its value, foreign businesses moved in and bought the entire country. Naturally, as German anger grew, new extreme political forces appeared. In 1924 communist and fascist groups fought street battles in German cities. The communists thought the solution was to embrace socialist internationalism. The fascists were hoping for an extreme right-wing militant system. Multinational corporations thought that fascism would serve their interests so they helped them on power. The same businesses traded with the Soviet Union and are now moving America's wealth the America's greatest enemy China. Big businesses have no loyalty to any country. Whereever they take control, they rob the lower and middle class and steal the country's accumulated wealth. A typical Conservative approach is to borrow money for tax cuts and grants. What do they care, they don't have to repay it... We do. Stephen Harper represents the interest of big multinational corporations. His job is to get elected, any possible way he can, by making promises people respond to, then spend the next 4 years serving his bosses.
