Canada has qualified for the quarter-final phase of the 2011 CONCACAF Men’s Under-17 Championship. Canada qualified following an 8:0 victory over Barbados, eliminating the Caribbean nation from the three-team Group C on Thursday 17 February.

Both Canada and Honduras posted victories over Barbados. Canada is in first place and needs but a draw or victory over Honduras on Saturday to win the group. First place from Group C will face second place from Group D while second place faces first place from the opposite group.

The other group is still open as to which teams will advance and which team will go home. In the first match on 15 February, host Jamaica drew 2:2 with Trinidad and Tobago. Then in the second match on 17 February, Trinidad and Tobago pulled off a 1:0 victory with a late goal in added time. Trinidad and Tobago has qualified for the quarter-final stage while Guatemala and Jamaica still have to battle on 19 February to determine the group standings.

The 2011 CONCACAF Men’s Under-17 Championship runs 14-27 February in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Only four of 12 teams will qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Cup Mexico 2011. Those four positions will be determined on 22 and 23 February in the CONCACAF quarter-final stage, with Canada set to face an opponent yet-to-be determined on 23 February.

Canada has qualified for the FIFA U-17 World Cup Mexico 2011. Canada booked its spot on 23 February with a 2-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago in the quarter-final phase of the 2011 CONCACAF Men’s Under-17 Championship. It marks the first time since Ecuador 1995 that Canada returns to the FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Canada now advances to the CONCACAF semi-final stage to face Panama on Friday 25 February. Host Jamaica will face USA in the other semi-final match. Both matches will be broadcast live on CONCACAF.com.

Canada has posted two wins and one draw thus far in the CONCACAF Men’s Under-17 Championship. It remains the only team with no goals allowed and no yellow cards. In the quarter-final, Canada’s two goals were scored by Chris Nanco and Keven Aleman.

Actually, all of Canada’s national teams as a group are now undefeated with no goals allowed in 10-straight CONCACAF matches, including both the CONCACAF Women’s World Cup in October/November 2010 (five matches) and the CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Championship in March 2010 (last two matches).

Just wanted to give a big shout out to the Toronto FC for their historic win last night. Much luck to them when they take on the Seattle Sounders later this month.

It was pretty amazing spotting the Impact 3 goals in the first game and Toronto comes back in a 2 game total goals and win 7 - 5. To bad the crowd were drowned rats and didn't stick around to celebrate. Still a good size crowd at the end tho.
