Germany's biggest newspaper - Bild - has launched an unacceptable attack on the England captain David Beckham's wife, mother and children. It called his defenceless children "dwarfs" (what size does he expect young kids to be?) and says that his wife, former Spice Girl Victoria, has a "peasant smile."

Hopefully, Beckham will get revenge on the Germans if England and German play each other in the Last 16.

Germans attack Beckhams

Das Boot: Ugly German woman ("Boot" is English slang for an ugly woman).

DAVID Beckham was fuming last night after a sleazy German newspaper launched a vicious attack on his family.

The paper branded his sister Joanne FAT and said his mum Sandra had the smile of a “peasant”.

Incredibly, they also branded two of his children — Brooklyn, seven, and Romeo, three — “dwarfs”.

Journalists at Bild produced their vile piece in an unsporting bid to unsettle England’s bid for World Cup glory.

Our Boys are among the favourites to ruin the chances of host nation Germany — whose stars include new Chelsea signing Michael Ballack.

Bild put the boot into Joanne, 24, after watching her at England’s 1-0 opening win against Paraguay.

They also spied on Becks’ 50-year-old mum as she enjoyed the match in Frankfurt.

A pal of the England skipper said last night: “This attack is way out of order and David is absolutely fuming.

“His mum and sister should be able to watch him play without having to worry about this sort of thing.

“They’re both upset by the rubbish that was written.

“But David won’t lose his dignity and say anything publicly.

“Perhaps he’ll get his chance for revenge if we meet the Germans on the pitch.”

Germany’s biggest newspaper plumbed new depths in their attack on innocent family members of an international sports star.

Of Joanne, they wrote: “Dear me, she is chubby. Arms, bust, bum, all very British. Joanne is the sort of girl who drinks sangria on the beach in Majorca. And then dances on a table with her top off.”

They also accused her of not working but of being a “professional sister”.

Of Becks’ mum they said: “Mama-ham, Sandra, 50 - the superstar mother with the peasant smile.

“Ex-hairdresser, a Robbie Williams fan. After the divorce from Beckham’s dad Ted a kitchen fitter, she’s single again.”

“Beckham, who gets a salary of 8.5million euros a year, bought her a house in Loughton, Essex. In the same place, the little sister lives.”

The poisonous piece tried to be clever by describing the Beckham group at the game with the introduction: “As delicious kicker David Beckham, 31, sang the English national anthem God Save the Queen, he displayed his closest family on the stage next to him.

“Curtain up for the Beckham family ... trophy wife Victoria, 32, we already know.

“With England flags on her behind, litres of cola and popcorn under her arms, Popham (her nickname in Germany) planted herself directly near to her two Zwerge (dwarfs).”

Even then the articles could not lay off having a pop at defenceless Romeo, who has long hair.

It claimed one person asked a Bild journalist: “What’s the name of the daughter Beckham.

“Really sweet, the little one. He means Romeo, the child with the angel hair. Would mummy rather have had a Julia?”

Another insider said: “David and Victoria are furious. They thought this was all about football and didn’t come to Germany expecting to be ridiculed.”

Former England skipper Mick Channon slammed Bild.

He said: “Writing stuff like that is just plain sick and is is clearly insulting. Beckham should ignore it and carry on playing the way he has been. He’s been great in the last four or five England games.”

England 1966 World Cup winner Martin Peters advised Beckham to ignore the jibes. He said: “The best thing he can do is ignore it and carry on doing what he does best on the pitch.”

While the England players’ wives and girlfriends include stunners like Posh Spice, Coleen McLoughlin and Cheryl Tweedy, can anyone name a partner of the German footie stars?

GERMANY 2006 GET SET FOR A SIZZLER

Germans: they still haven't got the hang of this sense of humour business.

GERMANY's biggest selling tabloid newspaper made a grovelling about-turn yesterday after its scathing personal attacks on David Beckham's family.

Writing in Bild, columnist Tobias Holtkamp claimed he had not called Becks' sister Joanne a pig, and wrote Victoria Beckham was the "Queen of the Beauties".

He then went into raptures about the England footie wives, calling them "the cream of the crop."

There had been fury when Holtkamp called Joanne "porky" and labelled Posh, Joanne, Beckham's mum Sandra, and Becks' children Brooklyn and Romeo the "Addams family".

He urged the paper's five million readers to call them that for the duration of the tournament, before cruelly describing Brooklyn, seven, and three-year-old Romeo as "dwarfs".

Holtkamp went on call Joanne a "professional sister", the kind of Brit who downed Sangria in Majorca and then danced topless on tables.

After furious Becks, 31, said Holtkamp was "one sad person", the columnist decided it was time to say sorry. He wrote: "Now the English are using fat headlines to claim we were rude about Beckham's sister.

"But Bild only meant she had a bit of puppy fat. In fact they are very nice, the English. And we cannot argue about one thing: Their players' wives are the most beautiful, the cream of the crop at the World Cup.

"They are chic, sweet, sexy...WOW. And Victoria Beckham is the Queen of the Beauties."

The article was accompanied by photos, including Chelsea star Frank Lampard's fiancee Elen Rives, 29, in her bikini, and Posh in her designer jeans and low-cut top.

Germany is a big market for Beckham through his relationship with Adidas, but he was not afraid of saying Holtkamp had gone too far in his abuse.

He added: "I found it sad but I've always had a great relationship with the German people."

German women boots?? Some yes, but England can hardly claim to be Hollywoodesque.

Boyo, you needs to gets off the island once in awhile. Maybe the 'smile of a peasant' was a compliment, Germany being the land of peasants and all, and you English being German Boat People.
