Hope Solo gets 6-month ban for calling Swedish players 'cowards'

U.S. women's national team goalkeeper Hope Solo has been suspended for six months for what the United States Soccer Federation has described as conduct "counter to the organization's principles."
The suspension is effective immediately for the 35-year-old from Richland, Wash.
"The comments by Hope Solo after the match against Sweden during the 2016 Olympics were unacceptable and do not meet the standard of conduct we require from our National Team players," Sunil Gulati, the organization's president, said Wednesday in a statement.
"Beyond the athletic arena, and beyond the results, the Olympics celebrate and represent the ideals of fair play and respect. We expect all of our representatives to honour those principles, with no exceptions.
Solo called Sweden a "bunch of cowards" after the Swedes beat the U.S. 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in the quarter-finals of the 2016 Olympic tournament in Rio de Janeiro.

Most athletes have a morals clause in their contract that is vague enough so when they do something as embarrassing like Solo did they can be let go.

You know what they do have? They have a bunch of angry looking women of questionable masculinity who could kick our asses in a street fight.
Why anyone would expect a bunch like this to be mannerly and feminine escapes me.

The others barely wanted Solo back on the team after the drunk driving charge, the domestic abuse calls involving her idiot thug husband, and then the incident with her sister and nephew. And at least a couple of them were pretty pissed off when she mouthed off about the Swedes. So there's some reason to believe that not all of them are a bunch of Lady Sean Avery's running around the pitch gooning every other player in sight. Good to see that there's still some teams out there that still try to have some class and not let the lowest and nastiest goof among them drag the rest down into the gutter.
