SprCForr SprCForr:
So, anyone think GM will put out the prototype Camaro and go head to head with the Mustang?

Will it tip the balance over at Mother and get them to produce the new Challenger?

And they showed all the retro cars that will be coming out.Nice stuff but pricey.Next time i'm sharing a six in buddy's garage I'll get some pics of his baby, make you drool. My other bud has a 330 hemi from a 1956 Dusoto(fire flight),and he want's to turn it into a coffee table. 8O

What do the ford pickup enthusiasts think of the new design? Kinda starting to look a lil chevyish or dodgeish.

I know one guy Zig that took his brand new Ford in and had the tailgate remade to say FARGO! 8O

I'm more of a chevy guy, since my father worked for GM, but I must admit, I would love to have a vehicle like the McLaren F1 pictured below. Of course $1,000,000 is needed, but hey, I can dream! 0-60 in 3.4 sec and 0-150 mph, not kph, in 12.5 sec.

Hi CKA, Canucker; I can't answer your survey because I am a conflict of ideals; I own both and am equally impressed/satisfied by both.

I have this cute '79F100 and a black '06 Cobalt, both awesome vehicles!

I was at the Camrose Cruiser CarClub event this weekend. I got to watch the 100' er and boy are those guys quick. Every last one of them made that McLaren F-1 0-60 time look bone idle. The winner of the group (not counting the blown alcohol ACE Racing team Funny Car) was a '67 Malibu. That beast went 1.91 seconds @ 48 mph (he was on juice) Second was a 52 GMC P/U (on just the motor) 2.01 @ 46 mph. I also watched a Dodge Diesel P/U do 2.87 at 38 mph. That guy had those turbos just spooling!

It was a great opportunity to watch people with nice cars actually use them. The kids now want me to finish the Ditch Pig and put it in the burnout contest and shred a pair of tires.

Now, where did I put that old set?....

I have no doubt that there are faster vehicles - the point is the prestige...the stats were just a bit of flavouring.

My father drag raced in the 60's. 33 Ford Coupe funny car powered by GM's smallest V8 - know what that was? I bet most would say a 267, but nope...it was a 265 from a '54 Pontiac if memory serves correctly.

Although some of those timings are impressive, top fuel rail cars beat them all...I think they are even outdoing the rocket powered cars now. 325 mph in the quarter mile is quick! Ever since Kenny Bernstein beat the 300 mph barrier, it's been nothing put quicker since.

Instead of looking at McLaren's... what about Ford GT. The Corvette is cool too but I would prefer the GT.

Top Fuel rules. With the distance only being a 100', stopping within the Exhibition grounds is the unmentioned other side of the challenge.

Prestige is nice if you've got the extra coinage to blow, but for me personally, the manufacturers can keep their "special decal packages" and "Euro look" lights and such.

Mario, that is a sharp looking Ford!

Sorry, but I like McLaren's and Saleens - especially the S7; that's quicker than the McLaren F1; 0 - 60 in under 3 seconds!

Lamborghini Countach is a car I really like too.

I have expensive tastes, wish I had the money for those tastes.

I gotta’ be totally honest – neither brand does much for me. I do like the new retro-inspired Mustang, and my uncle has a 2006 Corvette (but that’s hardly the everyman’s Chevy), but other than that there’s not much to aspire to (but I hope the Lutzian Revolution continues as the Solstice gives me hope) in these domestics.

I will sit on the post in some areas – I do like Ford trucks (Chevys have the worst, cheap-ass interiors and the exterior appears plasticky) and I’m leaning toward Chevy cars (the new Impala gets great reviews, but its styling is bland and its interior is typical Chevy junk).

I do hope that the last true domestic Car manufactures do turn it around and despite my criticism I do actively look for an upswing soon (look at GM’s Pontiac, Cadillac and Saturn divisions and Ford trucks).

Wullu @ Sun Jun 18, 2006 6:19 am

The post forgot neither  IF I was to ever buy a car built by Detroit/Windsor it would be a Chrysler. At least they are putting some effort into styling of the vehicles.

Actually, we currently own a Jeep and it’s been unbelievably reliable, and I’d buy another one. I do like Daimler-Chrysler products as well – their styling is bold and the “take-it-or-leave-it” philosophy (like the PT Cruiser and 300) at least is a fresh approach when compared to the bland Chevys.

canadian1971 @ Sun Jun 18, 2006 6:27 am

You would buy a Chrysler?!?! 8O ...dam dude...my sister works for them...as a family we can get about 25% off the price of a new vehicle from Chrysler......we own Toyotas and Hondas! Tells ya what we think of them eh.

Grand Caravan is a fairly good vehicle.....thats about all Id consider from Chrysler.

You will notice the "if" I wrote was IF. My cars come from Japan, Korea or Germany

Exactly. My sister's boyfriend loves his neew Jeep. Says it is the best 4X4 he ever owned and 4X4's are just about the only vehicles he has ever owned. I know I liked it when I had it for a week. Nice rig.
