Motorbikes

Does anyone here ride a motorcycle? I've been thinking about getting one for a few years and I've even seen a nice used one in town. Something good to learn on. Also a friend of mine just went out and bought a 2006 Kawasaki ninja. So naturally I'm jealous. I'm more of a cruiser type guy though.

This is my bike. I've added a windshield, crash bar and back rest to though.

That's an awesome looking bike. I'd love to have something like that. I'm still shopping around but I want something cheaper to learn on. There's a hond rebel 450 at a bike shop nearby, it's kinda small but should be allright to learn on.
I'm there dude

I guess your budget will set the pace. Do what you gotta do.

this is the bike my daughter learned to ride on...

It might be a tad small for you, but it's really cute.

Ya it is a wee bit small.
I'd suggest the folks at BC Sportbikes but I'd put a big word of caution in there.
Take a course and don't ever think you know what you're doing! Never try to keep up with someone else and always go slower that you you think you should.
The race is never to the next gas/pub/ etc.. it's measured in years and the laws of physics always wins.

Ya that was my plan, there's a good bike school in Kelowna, now I've just got to find an affordable bike to start out with.
Good luck on that one. Learner bikes are very popular and too many folks go for the 600cc 100+ hp sportbikes and crash before they learn.
I'd go with a dualsport but I doubt that you'd find any savings there. An older rebel/savage/ex500 etc may be the way and used may be the way.
More important is what do you picture riding?

Im more of the cruiser type, hell I'd get a harley if I could afford it. Except I don't like the loud pipes, I guess that kind of sacreligous. There is actually a savage in the paper for $1900, a 650, I just haven't gotten around to calling. I should though.
Problem is "learner bikes" have a varied checkered past. Many can go through a number of folks in a season which makes buying one a joke. Does you're school provide a bike? If you're a mature individual, you might go directly to youy're dream bike.
It's all about what you want and what you plan to do with the bike.
I've got a 955 Sprint ST because I like to sport tour but 99% of the time i'm commuting. Time for a smaller bike, or another one:-)

I want a bike for commuting to work and some long distance trips. The school does supply a bike, but I'd like to get one before hand.
I'd suggest watching the local dealers for something old, on the show room floor. Bike dealerships always need to be turning over their stock so old stuff must move over for new stuff and you can find bargans there.
I like Honda amnd Triumph but keep an eye open at Alberta's dealers too. Used is a crap shoot so be careful and check the bikes out.

A problem I have though is that I've never ridden before, and I don't have a truck, so I'd need to find something close by. Or have someone ride it to Vernon. So that limits my range.
