My Restoration Project is Complete
RockyMtn_Girl RockyMtn_Girl:
It's just a very lucky thing for us that we hadn't done any burnouts in the car yet because the way the rearend is now, it would have come apart for sure. At least this way we can show them exactly what the problem is (their poor workmanship) that caused this failure. Had the rearend grenaded during a burnout, that would have been $1600 down the toilet.
Yeah... but I'll bet that it would have looked really cool!!!
Add a pic for us all of that first good burnout!!!
GREAT looking restore BTW!!!
SprCForr SprCForr:
Could we get a pic of the look on the guys face when you jump him about the rear-end?
T'had be cool too yuh know.
You know, the funny thing about this is I've never had much luck when it comes to dealing with men and my car, other than my husband of course!
I had the car up at Spring Thaw (car show) on April 23rd and one guy, after looking over the engine, walks past me and up to the guy who owns the car next to me and asks him, "So, what do you think of that AirGap intake?" It was really funny to see the look on his face when guy #2 says, "I don't know, it's her car."
And times when I've tried to buy stuff for a simple tune-up, like spark plugs, has just been an exercise is frustration. I know what I want but the guy behind the counter inevitably has be patronizing and argue with me about....well those aren't the correct plugs for that year car, blah, blah, blah.....
I don't know if this happens to most women, but I find guys in the automotive industry don't take me seriously. My husband on the other hand has the automatic XY advantage and it takes a lot to piss him off but when he blows his stack...Look Out!
He is by far the better person to get the job done here with the least amount of dicking around, so to speak!

Wow... your car looks great... Looks almost like a foose car. I am happy for ya. And for the men/car thing, don't worry, we all get that too. For the few times I went to the "high performance shop" to modify my 84 civic and had the same treatment. They don't really care of your needs, they want you to do it the way they would do it.
Keep up your fight to stop that stereotyping! A gearhead is a gearhead. It's the dickheads that don't realize it. They'll need reminding they're dickheads too BTW.
Now back to our regularly scheduled program:
Is it done yet?...
How about now?...
Is it done yet?...
When is it going to be done?...

kitty kitty:
i really do not know too much about cars but as i read your car desciption out loud to a a friend who i knew would appreciate it... all i got was ooohhhh and wow and a few mmmmm and nice very very nice. i am used to those reactons from him but not in reference to cars. i must surmise that your car is very sexy.

Thank you! I think so too but not in a refined way like say a Ferrari. More of an "in-your-face" way I think!
My hubby owns the sexy car in our family. I think it has beautiful lines for a car. British body styling with a Ford V8. Now, what could be sexier?
Here's a picture of him racing at Knox Mountain in Kelowna.

You'll be happy to hear the rearend has been fixed, reassembled (correctly this time

) and reinstalled tonight. Just waiting on some parts to be Fed-Ex'd from Currie to complete the fix and reinstall the axles. Fingers crossed....should be back on the road by Thursday!
Fantastic!
Good Luck with the break-in period and I hope you have no more drama...
...until the first smokeshow!

Idiot counter people happen to both sexes RMG.
I used to break in and test race engines in my old Chev 4x4 and the guy at the NAPA counter argued for ten minutes that I didn't need that good an air filter for that old truck. When I finally got angry I took him outside flipped up the hood and cranked it up. His face went red when he saw the tac hit 7500r's.

...Something appeared on my radar!
It's been over a month now. Got an update?
BTW, anybody headed to Edm for the Drag races (The Rocky Mountain Nats) this weekend?
Awesome Pony RMG! And the Sunbeam is pretty awesome too, (my bro had an Alpine with a Ford 260, cool little car). I know what you mean about parts counter, most of the time the guys are ok. But I had a little issue at the dealer over work they did on my car......
Brand new 06, took it in for the free 5K oil/filter and 15 point insp. Took 'em about 2hrs. After it sat at home for a while, I decided to check the oil level, ok, check for leaks, ok, remove engine cover to check for leaks around oil filter, ok, wait!, too ok, there were no tool marks on the filter cap and no oil spilled around the cap. (engine has filter cart. in a cap on the block). So I opened the cap to see the filter, well, it was not a Delco filter, it was the Fram filter I put on at 1K, they didn't change the filter.
So I called them up, they said come right down. The mechanic guy had all kinds of excuses like, "oh, we get filters from all over", I even gave them an out suggesting that maybe it was forgot and I wasn't pissed-off, (on the outside), it was free so who's to bitch. Then he says; "I'm suprised you knew where the filter was", well, it is in an odd place. So he put a Delco filter in and I left satisfied. Over 2-1/2 hrs to get an oil change, waste of time. That is why I do it myself, I know it is done properly with the oil I want all in about 1/2hr. The service mgr guy was an asshole though, treating me like I'm dumb or insane, I don't think he knew where the filter was.
I'm sure they would have done this to anyone, not just me. Everybody needs to watch these tricksters. Gina was upset but is glad to be home now, she only wants me to work on her.
Happy cruisin'
Michelle

The latest update is, I haven't driven the car since the Three Hills show (June 3rd) but there's now 800 miles on the engine! We've been waiting for the daily rain to quit so the alley will dry up. Hubby wants my car out of the garage so he can take the Sunbeam out of storage. Fingers crossed xx - we'll both be at the All Ford and Mustang show this weekend in Calgary. I'm hoping we'll get some good pics / video next week with the summer weather they're promising us!
This weekend coming up is definitely out but I have registered for the International Mustang Meet in Edmonton in September.
Thanks for the update!
Cheers.
so, next week then?
