Yesterday Dodge announced that the first batch of 2008 Challenger rolled out of the Brampton plant. The production of the 2008 model year was set at 7000 units, all of which were sold before the first chassis hit the production line. That means we'll have to wait until late summer to see one at a dealership when the 2009 models come out.
The 2008 Challenger was only available as the SRT8 with its 6.1 HEMI powerplant. The 2009 models will have the full line up of SE, SXT, RT and SRT8. Engines will be the 3.5 V6 (250hp) for the SE, SXT. The 5.7 HEMI V8 (370hp, 375hp with manual trans.) for the RT, and 6.1 HEMI V8 (425hp) for the SRT8. A manual trans is optional with the RT and SRT models.
