An 09 Nissan GTR or an aftermarket automaker (ligenfelter, etc.) Corvette? I'd lean toward the vette because I very much prefer the R33 and R34 Skylines over this new "skyline GTR".
And then you could turn around and tune the Skyline to the exact same thing. Except the skyline will probably handle better.
uh no. the gtr is powered by a 3.8 L V6 while the lingenfelter has a 7 L V8 under the hood. that is a drastic difference in displacement and potential for improvement. anyway the gtr is already pushing that engine block to its limits with its twin turbos while the stock zo6 puts out more hp and torque and is naturally aspirated.
Well considering older skyline with a 2.5 inline 6 have been boosted to 1000, pretty sure this one can.
Maybe a stock ZO6 but for under $125,000 I could get a Lingenfelter Vette that could blow the doors off of any Italian, German, British or Japanese car ever made. 1000hp, 0-60 in 1.97 sec, quarter mile in 8.5 and American made.

Which is fine - until you want to turn...
Exactly my thoughts. It handles like a pregnant camel.

thats a little bit of an exaggeration, but yeas it doesn't handle as well as other sports cars but seeing as the majority of the worlds population doesn't have access to nuremberg or laguna seca and do most of their driving on highways, id say power over handling is a no brainer. i have a lot of fun drag racing with my friends on weekend nights and power and traction are a winning combination. road races are fun, but i dare you to tell me you've turned residential streets with stop lights/signs and a crappy surface into a race track.

Straights are boring! Highways are boring! They find the flattest, straightest, easiest-to-build-on ground they can and that's where the highway goes. Once you're up to speed, there's noting left. The curves, even in the city, are totally where the fun is. There are few, but there are some, places in the cities where you have interesting curves and good visibility and you can throw a car around a corner or two. Blazing down the highway at a hundred miles an hour just makes the scenery go by that much faster and tempts a very expensive ticket, or your car being seized if you're in Ontario.
Also, you need nimble handling even in everyday situations. Power is a nuisance when you're trying to park. Tight turning is preferable. SUVs have gobs of power, but their piss-poor handling causes them to flip and roll. Nimble handling may be the difference between needing to rely on airbags and not getting into an accident in the first place.
I'll take handling over power any day of the week.
