By request, here are some of the recent modifications I've done to my beater. Sorry the pics are crappy, all I have right now is my Blackberry and pics I took with it.

It took nearly 2 months, but there were things like Indy that took too much of my time. ;)

The offender:

Shiny chrome alternator, all that Summit could ship me on short notice.

I'll add better pics tonight when I'm at home. Anyone else have any DIY car projects they are working on this summer?

Nice job on installing the blower, that compartment looks...busy! lol What kind of bump do you expect with it? The alt looks real purty BTW.

I get to yank the big block this autumn, redo some seals and swap out the pan, oil pump and distributor. Not happy with them. That'll allow me to also finish sorting out wiring and lines. Spring '13 will see the Impala getting it's overdrive trans, so I'm looking forward to that. If my hot rod fund can take the strain, I'll see if I can finish up the serpentine system but only if it doesn't mess with getting the trans sorted. I've been saving all summer for the tranny!

Thanks! It's a pretty well engineered kit. The alternator is literally .064" from the block! Had to buy a new alternator, as the factory one has a clutch type pulley on it that only turns one way and freewheels the other. It was only used on my car for 3 months in 2002, and no one has the tool needed to remove the pulley!

On the back of the Air intake, where it bolts to the S/C, there are 3 inlets used to generate the vaccume needed for the accessories, like the blow off valve and brake booster. But when I put the upper intake in would have been the perfect time to add those hoses. But the instructions left those hoses till nearly last thing. :( I had to contort my hand so bad trying to fit 3/8 hose on those teeny little fittings. . . Arrrg!

It adds so many new hoses on one side, near the (really hot!) EGR valve, that it was easier to remove the EGR valve to check and fill my trans, than to try to 'guess' where the filler tube for it is. hehe.

Stock HP is 300hp / 310 ft/lb. On 9PSI, I should get 30% boost, or 430 hp/ 460 ft/lb at the crank. I actually fired it up for the first time last night, and took it for a bit of a test. Holy crap! It's like I bought a new car! It started knocking and pinging real bad, but that's because I apparently have a leak in the intercooler circuit and it was without coolant.

But it was actually tough not to spin the tires! Going to have to find a way to fit larger tires in the wheel wells, and the only way I can think of it to lower the car further to bring the shocks 'in' and give more room.

Awesome! That's one of the things I've never been confident of tackling. Engine and trans internals. Eeeep!

I'm not going to mess with the trans, I'll have a pro build it. Installing is pretty straight forward. Drive shaft shortening is zero challenge.
