Free Win 98
Hello:
Does anyone have or know where I can download a free copy of Win98 OS?

This is a joke right?

Even though it's old and hardly used, it's still illegal to download that.
Also, even if you had a legal copy, there are bound to be unpatched security holes... since Microsoft's website stopped providing hotfixes for Win98 a long time ago.
If you want a free operating system (and much more secure than Windows anyway) I would suggest Linux.

Try ReactOS. It's free and windows compatible.

No I was no joking and quite honestly expected all of your smartass replies.
The reason I am asking is I have an old 233MMX that had Win98 on it and it crashed for some reason. All I am trying to do is bring it back to life with an older OS since I believe that the mother board in the MMX will not support anything more then Win98. Basically last kick at the cat, even if I can only use if for simple word processing or at least my son for now.

Ask your friends/co-workers. Someone's got to have it kicking around or know smeone who does.

What's smartass about telling you it's illegal to download win98
I am fully aware that it is illegal to download anything such as Win 98, however, who here in the forum has downloaded music? Using Limewire and others without paying for it...same thing!
I had only Win 98 not SE.

The only thing that I'm aware of that will run this kind of hardware are two Linux distribution.
DSL -> Damn Small Linux : That thing will work on anything but it is hard to master
Puppy Linux -> That a lot easier to master and it will run on this machine. It's not to hard to mastern even my 14 years old daughter can do her msn and stuff with this distribution. And she is blond

Enjoy your old computer again.
