I went to futureshop and they told me a db9/db25 cable would work find for connecting to computers directly.
I've tryed making either computer the host and tryed everything I can think of to get the two comps to talk to each other.
the wizard setup on both comps sets it up without trouble, but when it's time to connect, they can't find each other.
Did I get the wrong cable?
I have never networked 2 computers using a serial cable... dont know why you would want too..
Do both computers have a network card?
if they do just buy a patch cable to link the computers

if you goto a local computer shop you could find one much cheaper.
do you have highspeed internet? (dsl, cable)
Only one comp has a network card, i might just buy another one and put it in and then set up a lan.
this would be the best thing to do, and easyest. a network card is like $20
Now wireless network, thats a headache!
why not put both hard drives in one computer... mix around the stuff you want to do and then put one of the drive back?
cheap easy and painless.
For most networking / internet sharing a "linksys etherfast" router works great.
DCC is really a terrible system to use. I suggest going the lan route and be done with it.
(BTW, Direct cable connections are dreadfully slow).
I like my setup here, it was a lot of fun learning all the software.
I run a Windows 2000 server with ISA Server Firewall and proxy, that connets to a switch that 4 workstations connect too. So everything is fast and secure. Windows 2000 is great ![]()
