So I installed a burner in my computer the other day and when i did my keyboard stopped working. I don't know if i buggered something up or if it was just bad timing. when I wiggle the cord to make sure its in good the mouse stops working too..
so what i'm wondering is is there some way I can fix this myself or am i gonna have to bring it to the shop to get it fixed??
I mis having my computer at home
Are all 3 (keyboard, mouse and burner) USB?
no
how is a burner usb??
the mouse and keyboard are both the little circle thingies
USB burners (external) are available.
So you have PS2 mouse and keyboard with what I am assuming is an internal CD burner?
I would double check your pin connectors to see if they got bent....
is that your true photo...if so anyone tell you you look like Sugar from YTV
Hmm, is the case of the Burner touching the Motherboard perhaps? Might be shorting something out.
yes its an internal burner. I dont know what a ps2 mouse and keyboard but it's not usb so I'm assuming that's what i have. I've checked the pins. i even bought a new keyboard and it still says keyboard failure when i tun on my computer and when i go to keyboards in the control panel there's nothing listed there.. so I dont think it's recognizing it at all.
Was there a disk that came with the new keyboard and mouse? You may need to install a driver?
the mouse isn't new and there was no dick with the keyboard.. it was just a cheap one i picked up for 10 bucks,
but I only bought it cause the keyboard i had been using all along stopped working and though maybe that was the problem..
I'm super confused lol
Was the burner software and drivers installed properly? If so, what else is attached to the IDE cable (that the wide grey cable with the black connectors)? You may have to do some research on jumper settings and IO conflicts.
But, if you're not comfortable doing that you may as well bring it to a shop.
It sound like you accidentaly broke something on the motherboard when you install your CD burner.
It's not a driver probleme because at boot she has an error message that

If you can download everest home edition
http://www.majorgeeks.com/EVEREST_Free_ ... d4181.html
with this software you can find everything on your puter hardware.
if you cannot then do this then
Remove the power cord from your puter
press the on button once (to make sure that there is no more residual energy left)
unplug all the rest
Open up your puter case
Now find the brand and identification of your motherboard
The motherboard is one single printed circuit on which everything else is plug into.
Good luck
With that information I should be able to find and equivalent board.
I you can, back up everything that you think is important NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
