I tend to like Firefox better for most things.....I like the webpage tabs and pages seem to load faster....but i've noticed that some features like my online classes tend to work better in IE.

Firefox wins to me. Firefox has many add ons and features you can get for it. Whatever Microsoft adds to IE someone surly can add it to Firefox. It just works better for me too and is faster browsing.

and nevermind the horrid security holes in IE

I tend to use Avant for the pages made only for IE just so I don't have to use IE, otherwise it's Firefox. I have Opera as a backup but I had IE removed from my system long ago.

I just upgraded my Firefox from 1.5 to 2.0. Works almost the same and didn't loose speed. My computer updated to IE7 on its own. It took at least half a day (I have an AMD Sempron with only 256 meg) to go upgrade from IE6. IE7 brings my computer to a crawl. My advice -> if you have an older computer. Use Firefox or stick to IE6 (if you are givin the choice).

I use Navigator 7.2. I love the tabs feature and it hardly ever crashes on me. And like Kal said, there are so many security holes in IE...

I've used firefox firefox since something like version 0.5.0 but version 1.0 brought me some problems with the speed. After some times running the same profile, the loading becomes very VERY slow. The page freezes several times while loading a big page with lots of images. Same problem on my two linux boxes and my windows laptop. When I create a new profile, everything is OK for maybe 1-2 weeks. Since then I have used Opera for daily use. Starting firefox sometimes to access websites not supported by Opera. I've not start IE in years. I have removed all icons to the big blue E.

I will try firefox 2.0. I hope they have solved that freezing problem.

From the point of view of someone who works for an ISP; IE7 sucks.

I only use IE on "patch Tuesdays" -- can one do Microsoft Update with Avant?

Yes. You can get it here:

Avant

Switched to Firefox just over a year ago. Haven't looked back. My only problem with it is that I can't get WMP player to work in Firefox.

I think crashing has more to do with hardware though
