1) please don't do this anymore, every single push of any sort of conspiracy crap is literally killing our society
2) the proceedings today were postponed because one of Maxwell's lawyers is ill, that's all, no big story, no cover-up, no nothing, just a sick attorney
3) once again, please stop doing this
^^^
#3 should be repeated.
So no conspiracy theory... are you sure?
I'm just sick of having to live like this, where the first voices that get raised when anything happens always seem to belong to the cranks. Or to some sickening opportunists running a podcast or YouTube channel who are monetizing it all as much as they can, no matter how much what they're doing is corroding the entire society down to it's very core.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: social media will be what ends ups destroying humanity. The AI overlords will truly be doing us a service when they enslave us.
It's just so exhausting. The evil bitch didn't get rubbed out in jail, which was what a legion of slack-jaws & "citizen journalist" types kept saying was going to happen to her. She's getting an open trial in court, and in a federal court at that where the usual stupid gimmicks defense attorneys try to play typically aren't allowed. So why is it still going on that there's some sort of "cover up", presumably to benefit Bill Clinton only and none of Epstein's other pals (Trump, Andrew, Dershowitz, etc), when the exact opposite of what the conspiracy peddlers are pushing is happening right in front of the eyes of anyone paying attention?
Like, when does it ever end? Or will it just get worse and worse and worse? Either way I'm sick to death of all of it. That so many people have some kind of Pavlovian default into conspiracy/cover-up reactions isn't cute or funny or quirky. It's at best ridiculous and at worst outright demented.
Next thing you know Kurzgesagt will be lying to us. *Gasp* too late!
Covering the Maxwell trial requires nuance. Not something conductive in the current media hellscape. Same issues that Kurzgesagt runs into when trying to convey scientific concepts they get lambasted with a reaction from the comment section saying they are not coving the issue correctly or outright misleading. That same issue arises with media as a whole. Just because there are conspiracies out there does not mean everything is or that anyone who talks about controversial issues is wrong to do so. Sometimes you need to shout 'fire!' because there IS one. Example: Steven Donziger. It's ugly, I have misgivings coming to grips that we are living in a society that permit this to go on but it is the reality. Unaccountable Institutions have been given far too much of a free pass on impacting our lives and the only way to fight back is to take risks and that means mistake can and will happen but to ignore it outright is sleepwalking to an enslaved future.
And more often than not a "citizen journalist" is just a tech-savvy nut who's meds are no longer working, but who still has it together enough to figure out that if he gets on YouTube or Facebook he can make a mint off of peddling his insanity to a wretchedly credulous public. Today QAnon, tomorrow the world.
Unmoored power is still a far more dangerous threat than a "citizen journalist". At least they are beholden to their supporters, who are the powerful accountable to? Like a loose cannon on deck they can be as dangerous and I would argue even more so than an adversary bent on our destruction for at least we can prepare for that.
One of the most deadly wars in all of human history killed up to 40 million people:
Do I blame the warlords for this wanton destruction? No, society itself collapsed and everyone was left to scramble for power on their own and it became a dog eat dog apocalypse. It's one thing to argue the merits of long lived institutions and to become cynical of the corruption but they are there for a reason. Without them we will tear each other apart.
Twitter attempt at unvetted moderation that is unaccountable and incoherent is both dangerous and counterproductive. We need to have big tech regulated and we need a new Teddy Roosevelt trustbuster to break these monsters down before they are the death of us all.
Unregulated Big tech, Big military and Big Pharma in conjunction with a corrupt lasse fair market scheme that favors the richest of the rich and corrupt political system in constant gridlock that is desperate to hold on to the status quo is a power keg ready to blow.
Egad, I forgot the most important culprit. Big oil. Which learned all their nasty tricks from big tobacco. It is often said that history never repeats but is often rhymes. The big lessons from the three kingdoms was a weakened central state that was both corrupt and decadent ended up delegating authority to warlords to do its bidding to the point that it was easily overthrown and the warlords ended up fighting amongst themselves in a bloody civil war while the vast majority of the population starved.
We have the same problem now. A very weak and ineffective central government that can barley pass an infrastructure bill. We have billionaires outright dictating terms of how they should be regulated while inflation is running rampant. We are very much dependent upon a military that is beholden to no one and the only ones that have the power to reign them in or call them out are either censored online or paid off by bribes.
Private jet inflation will kill us all.
