UNRAID for NAS solution

Anyone using UNRAID as their NAS solution?

I find the ability to add a single drive to your drive pool a feature which appeals to me. Also the array of drives can be a grouping of disks of mismatched sizes. Unlike raid 5 where all the drives must be of the same capacity or Linux ZFS.

Presently using Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (Zorin-os) with raid 5 via mdadm but the flexibility to grow the raid 5 array is not as simplistic as Unraid.

The intent is to use it as a backup solution for my photos, digital illustrations, 3d models as well as music, tv shows and movies I have. Presently using an octopus mess of external hard drives and a samba share on my Zorin-os file server.

Cheers & many thanks.

I have unraid on my file server. It's slower than a typical RAID environment (though having multiple concurrent video streams hasn't been an issue). Having the docker environment and the VM manager to serve other tasks has also been great.
