Left has trouble with Conservative Gay websites

Some Conservatives started up a site and it sounds like it's a real hate magnet for "progressive" folks. The flip-flop is pretty funny for folks who say their all so accepting and tolerant.

Gay Dominion makes some left-leaning bloggers uneasy....
Gee, so far the reaction from Conservatives to Gay Dominion has been terrific. Lots of positive comments on this blog and directly to the Gay Dominion e-mail. Last night, I was on Calgary radio and the hosts were totally supportive. The only people who are unhappy seem to be left-wing bloggers - they just can't understand how a gay person can have conservative thoughts.
For instance, if you go to Dr. Dawg's blog, you'll notice some silly comments - actually comparing me to a jew that would join the KKK. In an e-mail to me, Dr. Dawg says that "surely you have noticed that homophobia is almost exclusively a right-wing phenomenon?" Well, tell that to Fidel Castro who loves to put gay people in prison. Or, the fact that the Liberal party really didn't take on gay rights until they were forced to by the courts. Well, that's another can of worms. My point is that homophobia knows no ideological lines.

His last line is a killer:
I have never encountered from Conservatives who know I am gay the animosity and vitriol directed at me by gays who find out I'm a Conservative.

Oh well, I know the blogger, he's a good guy for taking up this cause, and he's had nothing but positive feedback from those in the Conservative community here in Canada.
It's the so called left wing 'progressives' (cue: DerbyX) who think it's unthinkable to be gay and a Conservative.

It's out of the ordinary because both in the US and Canada the conservative parties have significant sections that practice religiously based discrimination and bigotry towards homosexuals. And to be a part of such a party, yet openly declare oneself to be homosexual is cognitive dissonance in way.
They're a part of a party that would strip you of your charter rights and treat you as a second class citizen if they could.

I think you're just propagating the big lie.
I think that's a myth, on par with the "secret agenda" that the left is desperate to keep on the boil.
.. reguardless though, it dosen't explain this open hostility from people that keep telling us their so open minded.
You also appear to be missing that little "C" that lets you post here.

I'd agree with that in the U.S. Republican party. Thus why I'm so indecisive, when it comes to U.S. politics, swinging back and forth.
However, in Canada's Conservative Party, granted, I'd say a slim majority are still pro traditional marriage, but the extremists are very very fringe. About 45% of Conservative party members (from policy vote in the Conservative Convention in 2005) support same-sex marriage, and almost all Conservatives support civil unions for people of the same sex.
Most members of the party want to become a 'Grand Coalition', an open tent if you will, which is diverse in membership. Harper spoke of how many woman in caucus and in cabinet (without quotas!), and how we had many 'firsts' for ethnic minority M.P.s and the crowd clapped loudly. It's encouraging to most members to see the old image being shed and to see the party appealing to more and more people.
The ultimate goal of most Conservatives, Stephen Harper, and the Conservative Party of Canada is to become the natural governing party of the 21st century (the Liberals held that title in the 20th century).
To do that the party know it needs to moderate out on certain things (to appeal to the general population) and have long term appeal.

In the USA we have the "Log Cabin" Republicans who are openly gay and openly conservative. They are pro-gun rights and their gun group is called "The Pink Pistols" and they are in line with about 90% of the Republican platform.
Their choice to do this is little different from the devout Catholics who register Democrat while not agreeing with the Democrats predominant anti-religious views and while disagreeing with the Democrat Party views on abortion they still agree with the Dems on immigration, illegal immigration, and social welfare.

Though I would dispute your claim that the Democrats are predominantly anti-religious. To be sure, there are some anti-religious types, but there are more who aren't like that. Moreover, those that are in the Democratic party who are like that, they are far from the dominant faction in the party whereas the Republican is becoming increasingly dominated by the religious faction.

The Democrats, all fifty million of them, may not be anti-religious but the people they elect certainly are and their collective voting record proves that inescapably.
