For anyone who still wonders if this is a Conservative Government in any real sense, think on!
I wanted to re-ignite the issue of Herbert Norman and Lester Red Pearson, since previous Ministers, both Lib and PC, had failed to answer questions on still unidentified Soviet agents.
All it would take would be a simple written question to start the ball rolling, so I asked my local M.P., a Tory, to do so.
What does he tell me, after several weeks pondering on the matter?
Well, this answer from his assistant arrived today.
" Unfortunately we are not able to deal with the Norman issue at
this time, however we would appreciate if you would keep us informed."
Great stuff- I ask for help in getting to the truthof a scandal and he has his lad ask me to keep him informed!
Welcome aboard.
This is a suspicious first post but then, we do get a lot of that here.
Am I correct that you are looking to use a 50 year old case to slander the current government?
Yesw, it happened fifty years ago, but it had it roots much further back and spy scandals by their very nature do not go away if all the branches are not clipped.
Read Barros' book, No Sense of Evil, to get the picture and to learn how the Clark regime weaseled just as mightily as the Grits did.
What bothers me is that here we have this gung-ho image and yet Harper's back-benchers are chickening out of a chance to set the record straight.
Which Tory WILL have the guts to launch the clean-up crusade..or must we all refer the back-bench back-sliding to Mr. Toews for answers?
Well, we're doing a good job of apologizing and paying for past mistakes so I'd say the chances are pretty good. I'll need to look into this more before I could comment seriously.
What book is this?
James Barros wrote the book, which I managed to get thru Amazon. He's a former Toronto University Prof. isbn 0888791429
more details on the web, but check it out- Tories, Grits, up to their necks in subterfuge!
