Rofl, wtf? They got hit by a Cyclone and there relief is 220, 000 condoms?

"So far, the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) said it had sent 72 800 condoms to survivors struggling to maintain their family planning after the storm hit in early May."

Fuck me, it's true. The UN Really is useless.

BartSimpson @ Wed May 21, 2008 2:15 pm

Sending condoms to a country where people are starving makes perfect sense to the idiots at the UN.

newfette @ Wed May 21, 2008 2:30 pm

they dont want any forien aid but the condoms they want...

I guess its true.. no matter how bad things seem, theres always room for loving

commanderkai @ Wed May 21, 2008 2:31 pm

Holy fucking shit, I'd had higher priorities than fucking condoms when I'm starving. Jeez

Loader @ Wed May 21, 2008 6:27 pm

And people wonder about the relevance of the UN...

dino_bobba_renno @ Wed May 21, 2008 6:29 pm

It would be my guess that most of the condoms are going to the military regime that rules the country considering they’re the one’s f%$@ing the people of Myanmar.

Donny_Brasco @ Thu May 22, 2008 6:37 am

Are you people really that stupid?

The UN sent tons of shit to Burma including condoms. Makes sense to me to help prevent a population explosion 9 months and after if the health system is still in a state of catastrophy.

It makes sense to me that people are going to want to be close to their spouses to try to build new lives.

Why be so narrow minded on this?

Brenda @ Thu May 22, 2008 6:40 am

I agree with you Donny...

I think it is a good thing too...

Donny_Brasco Donny_Brasco:
Why be so narrow minded on this?

So you've just lost your home and potentially members of your family. The first thing that comes to mind other than rebuilding your home and your lifestyle is throwing one into the old lady?

Donny_Brasco @ Thu May 22, 2008 6:47 am

That might be one senerio. But there are a million more - damaged homes and roads - people unable to get to the the supplies they need but still able to live in their houses. People with no loss but trapped in flooded regions...

Brenda @ Thu May 22, 2008 6:47 am

The first thing that comes to mind, is hold on to eachother, so yes... Maybe not with the intention to make babies, but to make clear you are still alive and loving eachother.

Oh well, or just for the hell of it. There is not much more they can do, they can't build a new life yet, first some clean up has to be done.

We are not talking the first day, but after a couple of days, the shock is partially gone, and life starts to be life again. People have sex, no matter their circumstances.

What this shows is how these various aid groups compete against one another.
Sure, the survivors are going to need this eventually but far many more need food, water and shelter first and a plane load of condoms is just taking up valuable space.
This just shows again why the UN is a bag of poo.

Brenda @ Thu May 22, 2008 7:23 am

I think it is a combination that is needed...

I agree with you that food and shelter is very important, but when you think about the ships that are not able to land shore because of Burma's government, I think the "valuable space" is kind of a non-issue.

Imo it is just as important to help the people in need now, as well as to prevent a babyboom in 9 months.

I guess many here don't have a sex drive...
