Bad idea if that's all they do. Putting up a wall around Greece will just turn it into a hellhole. And reduce badly needed tourist income for Greece. Nato already has ships in the area, including a Canadian one, helping with intel. Forget intel, have Greece ask for help from Nato, use Nato ships to turn back any refugee boats. Then of course, Turkey would have to be compensated for having to keep all those refugees.

If the Gulf states and Turkey/Russia start putting boots on the ground in Syria, that refugee flood will become a tsunami.

Why not just establish this area as a secure NATO/UN safe zone? Major harbours and airports that can be easily supplied. Syrians remain in their own country rather than piling into Europe with the world's dross sneaking in alongside of them. Establish military and police training centers where Syrian men can be trained and equipped to fight the extremists, knowing their families are safe.

Actually... the worst thing for Greece was to become part of the EU/Euro. That was the end of being a cheap travel destination. That's also what brought its downfall.
Europe has had borders for a very long time. It is way more common to have a passport there than it is here. I've had a passport all my life, simply because that was needed to go to Germany, France, Belgium...

Pfff, this is like putting a band-aid on an arm ripped off at the shoulder.

NATO putting ships in the Agean... oooooooooooooooooooh

not to push back, not to sink anything, put to 'observe the traffickers'.

The Greeks aren't being told to close anything, only to get the paperwork
done better.

And Turkey gets mo' money, while letting everyone out.

Even Justine couldn't come up with a better joke than this nonsense.

This year, watch for a few borders to not be checked/controlled, but closed.

That looks a lot like the Russian zone.

And giving them anything that looks like Schengen, considering the neighbors they have.

$1:
BRUSSELS — European Union countries are poised to restrict passport-free travel by invoking an emergency rule to keep some border controls for two more years because of the migration crisis and Greece’s troubles in controlling its border, according to EU documents seen by The Associated Press.

The switch would reverse a decades-old trend of expanding passport-free travel in Europe.

How will that affect Calais, I wonder...

Because to understand what a horror show that one is you have to hear from somebody who's experiencing it.
