Adding insult to injury? Wounded soldiers have pay cut

I think that if a soldier gets wounded in mid-late month he should still receive the 'danger pay' for that month, if he gets injured on the 1st of a month then it does seem silly to pay him danger pay for the month he's going to be spending in bed...

I must say though that I can see why it would be stressful to hear of a paycut less than 6 hrs after receiving injury & losing two comrades. That hardly boosts morale, and someone in that situation doesn't need any more bad news. Seems silly to have an attitude of "Can't wait to tell them about their paycut as they lie in the hospital bed in utter agony," yeah... I seriously doubt money is even the thing on the individual's mind at that point (at least until they bring it up)

Bull shit on a stick, those wounded soldiers are entiled to the Danger Pay for the duration of their contract. It's a contract honor it Harper, a wounded Soldier needs the extra cash to help him get back on his feet. Anyone who's dealt with the Canadian Militarys Medical Services know what I mean, backward and with red tape up the wazzo. Dispicable, these plucking Politicians (Libs, Cons, NDP) have been playing "Ring around our Soldiers" to gain points with the public all the while quietly bleeding them to death. Dispicable.

So I'm entitled to danger pay even though I've been back in Canada for over 4 years! By the way overseas pay is NOT a contract, but I did like the way that you managed to blame the PM.

I left the Falklands War 22 ish years ago, that's a lot of back the the bloody Queen owes me!

But I agree, there should be a 'rehab' allowance that mirrors the allowances the in theatre guys get. Until they are fit for duty, if not lets pay our injured guys well.

If we can give all kinds of welfare and benefits to 'new' Canadians, we can do the same to our guys who are fighting and dying for our freedom.

Uu rah....

I figure the Danger pay should end after the next full month after being evacuated from theatre due to wounds. Overseas pay should continue if they were evacuated to Germany. It should cease when they are returned to Canada. I reccomend converting it to some kind of Hospital Allowance, maybe even at a rate to match their current allowance until the tour end then reducing it afterwards. The wounded troopie really isn't in need of cash. His wants and needs are being looked after by the Medical system, does his family need the extra pile of dough beyond the members standard pay? Maybe, but I'd be willing to bet that a travel, meal and accomodation pass/voucher to allow for frequent family visits would be more welcome if the wounded troop hasn't yet been returned to his home base.

As for the pencil neck yapping at the troop 6 hours after arrival, I think the RSM of the Battle Group needs to pay a visit to the RSM and Chief Clerk of the place where this is taking place and sort that shit out ASAP. PDT_Armataz_01_19

Pissy point: Wounds are inflicted by enemy action. Injuries are everything else. A soldier hit by shrap, an IED or shot has been wounded, if he trips and falls down the stairs and breaks a leg, he has been injured.
