how many Arabs will go ??
how many whites would send their kids ??

So which would you prefer: the current system where a disproportionate number of black students drop out or to try something new and give them an environment where they will have a better chance to succeed?
They had two black students on Canada AM discussing the pros and cons for a few minutes - the proponent went on this rant about "the same people that enslaved our people provide our education", blah blah blah. I was appalled that this guy could make such comments about our country.
I think this division only serves to promote this sentiment that black people today are still affected by slavery, and our "white" administration cannot serve them.

This feels like a giant step backwards.

Segregating them and teaching them stuff that the rest of the country cant identify with
wont help them. it will only increase the isolation, resentment, and the creation of an 'us and them'
mentality.. If the current sysytem is so bad, that needs to be fixed..
Differeent schools for Catholics.. different chuches for Christians, Jews, Muslims and
whoever else.. works really well doesnt it ??

I guess one is considered politically correct and the other politically incorrect.

I don't see why this is supposed to be happening... What I read from the article, they say it is not gonna be an "all black school, but a school where blacks feel at home so they don't drop out."
Why do they drop out anyway? Because the level of education is too high? Because they just don't give a damn about education? Because they are discriminated against? Why?
Starting a school that "makes them not drop out", only indicates to me, they are not going to get the same level of education the rest of the country does. Are we creating stupidity here?

It doesn't work that way. The schools still have to follow the curriculum guidelines as set out by the Ont. Ministry of Education.
Something I saw on another forum and I paraphrase as I cannot find the link:
100 years ago the Ku Klux Klan stated that black people were intellectually disadvantaged and were incapable of making significant advances both professionally and personally and that they would always require assistance from white people in order to survive in a competitive society.
Thirty years ago white liberals said the same things while the Black Panthers and the Nation of Islam condemned such language.
Now the black mainstream says much the very same things the Klan used to say 100 years ago and we're supposed to politely nod our heads when they do this.
Afro-centrism will do nothing more than put a generation of radical left agitators on the streets.
Also, get used to being told that all the best ideas in Western Civilization were "stolen" from blacks and that the best and brightest philosophers of antiquity were all black.
Sophocles, Plato, Aristotle. Ptolemy, etc. - all black.
Sure.

From what I understood, the idea is to create a school environment where the students aren't made to be the minority and are free from discrimination be it real or imagined.
Overall, the idea is to create an environment where the students can flourish in a place where they are immersed in their own culture.
