Albert Hofmann, father of LSD, dies
Guy I know started talking to a traffic cone which came alive during his trip. Sounds like fun....not!

It certainly doesn't cause any long-term physical harm.
Sure does cause mental harm though.
I went to highschool with a guy that was on course to become a pro hockey player. He spent a summer dropping too much acid and went stupid....
It's unlikely to cause any more mental harm than would happen without LSD. Actually, it's more likely to do more good than harm if it's used in the right settings. A lot of phsychological problems as well as addiction problems like alcoholism could be solved with controlled use of LSD, but no government will legalise it for research.
Of course, if you fill all of your time with consuming any kind of drug, you'll get stupid. That's not so much a problem with drugs as it is a lack of moderation. You could spend too much time playing video games and get stupid too.
"I wouldn't recommend drugs, violence or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me." -Hunter S. Thompson
It might be great for
"some" people recreationally, but Hoffman and the other assholes at the U of S were using it on unsuspecting people like my cousin, who was misdiagnosed as schizophrenic and given LSD at the age of 11.
After living though that era, I don't want to spend anymore nights walking overdoses and trying to keep their heads screwed on straight, because they decided to take a little trip.
It wasn't fun watching your friends completely fucked up and wondering if some other asshole was going to slip you a hit in your beer when you went to the head.
Personally I'm glad it's over, except for the music, which I miss.
I never tried it, never will. Sorry he is dead, and I'm sorry he didn't take LSD with him.

LSD shouldn't be given to schizophrenic people in the first place. That's not the fault of LSD, but a poor mental health system.
Used properly, in a proper setting, LSD can be beneficial to people with alcoholism and severe anxiety problems.

Anyone could slip anything into anyone's drink. That doesn't make the substance bad, it makes the person slipping stuff into your drink bad.
It's very hard to overdose on LSD, especially if you're using blotter acid. The amount of acid on a blotter tab is usually about 0.12micrograms, which is not enough to hurt anyone.

If you've never tried it, how can you be sorry?
I've tried it, with mixed results. The bad results were my fault, as a result of not being prepared for the trip, not having all of the facts straight and not being prepared for the weather. I thought it lasted eight hours, but it turns out it can last up to 24 hours. I spent the weekend recovering while the floor shifted and the walls melted. That would be cool if I could turn it on and off, but after about the tenth hour it just gets annoying.
The first time I did it, I was with friends who could help me out if things went wrong. I was also at Wonderland and had a pretty damn good time.
Psychedelic substances are not bad if you know what you're doing and research them beforehand. Know the facts about the substance, know your body, know your head, know your intentions for using the drug, and have a plan. If you exclude any of these, you will have a bad trip.
I am not encouraging you to take a trip if that is not something you would like to do, I'm only providing some education about a vastly misunderstood substance.

I wonder what his headstone will read?
"It was a good trip"?

Or you can play it safe and not play russain roulette with your life and mental health. I've had my share of trips too when I was younger. Those days are over.
Remember after all these are rogue chemists that are making this shit, you dont know one hit from the next.

I'd rather not put chemicals that can cause long term brain damage and mental insanity.

LSD does not cause any brain damage, and only causes temporary insanity.
Used in moderation in a proper setting, LSD is harmless.
Comparitively, binge drinking alcohol five times a week will cause brain damage.
Don't do it if you don't want to, but that's no excuse for ignorance.

LSD is very unlikely to kill a person, and there are very few recorded deaths that were a direct cause of consuming LSD. You're far more likely to die from drinking alcohol.

They're all the same chemical, lysergic acid diethylemide-25. Mixing LSD with other chemicals on blotter paper is pretty pointless, as it needs to be as pure as possible to have any effect.

and some very good education also, I saw a documentary on Hofmann a few years back in my psychology class, very interesting man, more interesting is how he accidently stumbled upon the drug.
I've never taken the drug and never will (thanks career choice

) but if done over again, i would like to experience the psychedelic effect of the drug, like you said roman, if done in the proper environment i've heard the trip can be amazing.
it is a bummer that the tight sphincter politicians in the US can't see past their red bloated alcoholic noses to realize the possible good in these substances and instead turn their ignorant heads away, take an obstinate position, and continue to let tens of thousands of people who can benefit from the drugs or research of the drugs wither in agony. of course our Canadian politicians are so eager to bend over for the americans we are follow suit.
politicians for the people....what a f*cking joke
