"A parked car bomb targeting a police patrol in western Baghdad killed at least one civilian and wounded 10 other people, including three officers, police said."
CAn some one explain to me why they are killing each other off with car bombs nearly every day over there?? And to be targeting the Police of all people?? WHY??? Whats the point to this?? You would think that by now they would have tired of all the killings?? be tryin to get things workin again?? Dont they realise the sooner they get thier shit together then the Americans will not have a reason to be there???
Aside from the point that they shouldn't (or won't) have to give up their resistence when their is still an invading army to be defeated I asked a similiar point to my friend from there.
He said we would be surprised to know that quite alot of them have more to do with revenge between feuding families/individuals, "buisness" partners and plain old greed. What better way to cover up a crime then have your target simply be a bystander casuality in a war attack?
It's probably because the police are seen as tools of the occupying force and thus are fair game.
Not to mention that anyone one who isn't happy with the current government (and that is a very long list of people) are more than happy to do anything with in their power to cause strife amongst ethnic groups and destabilize the entire country.
Wjen will they figure out that as long as they are doi9jg this shit the Americam will stay there using this as thier reason..
Things to consider:
1) The Iraqi police are rife with insurgent infiltrators from both the Sunni and Shia sides. As such they become legitimate targets for the various opposing factions. The Iraqi police are also corrupted by criminal gangs, so things like this can also be seen as fights between opposing Maria factions. Sort of like Al Capone in the 1920's and the crack gangsters of the 1990's, they aren't too concerned with whatever non-involved bystanders that also get killed.
2) One of the lesser reported facts about the war is the deterioration of morale and degradation of equipment and weaponry of the US forces. As such one could logically expect that this attrition of American capabilities will continue as long as the US stays in Iraq. The carnage generated by suicide bombers always bring out the repetitve chorus in America of "we gotta stay until we win!", which for some strange reason isn't really accompanied by an explanation of what "winning" is actually supposed to constitute. But regardless, ask yourself who gains the most by the Americans staying in Iraq for longer. That answer should clearly be the Iranians and the Bin Ladenists. If a few suicide bombs today that trigger unthinking bellicose stubborness in the US, which in turn will result in the continuing erosion of American military capability, then it becomes more obvious each passing day that the continuation of an American presense in Iraq is exactly what the Islamofascists want. Several years ago, as the size of the Iraq disaster became more apparent, the policy wonks in Washington started babbling about Iraq being the "flypaper" that would trap the terrorists where the US could cleanly destroy them. In reality, considering that the terrorists were never stupid enough to attempt to engage the Americans in open battle, the only ones who are trapped in flypaper are clearly the US.
Overall I'd say it's long past time to declare victory and leave.
Look at riots at home. Who do the rioters target....local businesses and property, thus compounding their problems.
