Higher temps and yet strangely enough the ice cover today is 28% larger than this time last year.............

Which of course is a somewhat different result than the ice free 2008 arctic predicted earlier this year!

RUEZ RUEZ:
It's not about ignoring climate change. I'm waiting for someone with an actual idea that works. Green shift won't do it. I'd rather see some investment in clean technology that works and can be implemented quickly. Like why don't we put up solar panels on every new home built in Canada? Why are incandescent light bulbs still made? Why aren't we investing in auto fuels that we know are cleaner? Screw the green shaft let's do something that's going to make a difference.

You and me both buddy. Good post.

$1:
The report noted that 2007 was the warmest year on record the Arctic, leading to a record loss of sea ice. This year's sea ice melt was second only to 2007.

and

$1:
Now with a cooler cycles in some areas the rise in temperatures has slowed, but Overland said he expects that it will speed up again when the next natural warming cycle comes around.

So these record high temperatures are coinciding with what should be an overall cooling trend, given that we're at the low of the 11-year sunspot cycle and the cooling stage of teh ENSO oscillation.

This is stuff I really believe in. Ever since I was a little kid I've been reading the Mother Earth News. Anyone that is familiar with this magazine knows that it promotes sustainable living and keeping the earth as healthy as we can. In fact this magazine was promoting hybrid cars in the 70's long before they became cool. The Conservative in me says we have to balance whatever we do so that people aren't losing jobs. People without jobs aren't concerned with the environment.

llama66 @ Thu Oct 16, 2008 3:40 pm

agreed RUEZ, good post.

mixedfarmer @ Thu Oct 16, 2008 3:42 pm

i an glad the conservatives finally agree we have a problem and the environment needs our help

I don't think anyone was ignoring the problem, they just didn't like the solutions that were out there.

You have no credibility in here boy.

I'll discuss issues with those capable of stringing an actual sentence together. When you finish grade school feel free to try and contribute to our forum.
