I like what one of the commenters said. How come BB made announcements that negatively affected the share price before this announcement. My savings were effected by this and it's not cool. Who can I call or email about this concern?

A 10% owner and board member engineers a purchase of the company,
and you wonder why the share price has been dropping ?

What odds do you want that shareholders will not approve the deal because of it?

Tough call; take $9 and lumps, or vote it down and risk the share price really
dropping into the toilet.
If the share holders even get a vote.

If this deal goes through than BlackBerry needs to drop the Z10, Q5 and stick to it's bread & butter qwerty keyboards while focusing on the business side and they should be able to rebound.

Heck no! I mean, I love the keyboards ever since I got my first BB pager back in '98 (?). But with excessive stock of Z30's in the warehouse, I should be able to get one at a steal!

Of course sell those off and after they're all gone focus on devices with qwerty keyboards and more available apps.
Such a shame that people were so quick to write-off the new handsets from Blackberry. The BB10 OS is by far the best OS available on the market for a smartphone but suffers from a lack of apps.
I hope they sell off the OS to Google and let them integrate a lot of the good stuff into the Android OS.

I never bought the more 'apps' thing. It's a phone. I can see the use of some things like Google Maps, or a restaraunt guide; but most people I know use an app once or twice, and never again. (Besides angry birds) So why would people want to pay $5.99 for more things to ignore?
Besides, BB10 runs all Android apps doesn't it?

Apps make a difference when you want to simple tasks such as banking, little things like that. If they offer that and more in a restructured package I would definitely be the first in line to buy one.

I'm mostly concerned with the late-friday announcement that triggered a 16% drop, followed up by today where the announcement of intent to purchase for only 9 was made.

It's a phone to you, it's much more to the vast majority of the smartphone market. The amount of apps and demand for them speak to the need. I need my phone to have an app for my bank, sports stuff and task management. It's a business tool for me.
BB10 has the ability to run Android apps but the apps loaded onto the phone and in Blackberry World are for the BB10 OS.

Blackberry has most, if not all of the most popular apps including all those for the major banks.

They didn't have my bank and other apps I needed, I do miss the feeling of the Q10 in my hand it truly was something. I heard should this deal go through BlackBerry will probably do what IBM did, still be relevant just not public which means you will no longer be able to buy a BlackBerry at your cellular dealer anymore..
