Punishment is draconian for what seems to have been an honest, if drunken mistake.
You can hardly say the stepmother was a stranger... Weird sentence. Weird arrest, too...
Ugh, if I had a nickel for every time that happened to me...
...but after the third or fourth time waking up to some guy in my bed touching my breasts, I'm beginning to think its not accidental.

Hmm, an Appeal I think would be in order.
maybe that was the problem: the step-mother didn't find him appealing???
Seriously, unless there were pre-existing ill-will between the step-mother and the offender, it seems a bit over-the-top to have him prosecuted.
I did the same once, and we all laughed about it. Only if assault or unlawful entry occurred should he be in trouble
