Reports are that Rishi Sunak will run unopposed.
It's official now. Morduant has dropped out and Sunak will be the next PM.
Could be worse, but Morduant was easier on the eyes.
We’ll see. Sunak will probably be as shit as Truss, but not as incompetent.
Maybe not. The Johnson agenda, of which Sunak was a major player, was a lot more progressive and much less anarcho-capitalist than was known - one supposes that when a large part of the team (including the leader) behaves in such baffling behaviour during an epidemic that any attention given to the rest of their platform will massively decrease. Truss' return to Reaganomics that delighted the FOX crowd so much was actually quite a ways out of step with the way the British Tories have handled economic issues since before David Cameron was PM. Even John Major had ditched what remained of Thatcher's ideas back in the 1990's after she was ousted.
Sunak could be another POS but it's highly unlikely he'll do anything as stupid as what Truss and her circle had dreamed up. It'll probably be back to the Johnson agenda entirely with Sunak, minus all the daily Johnson hijinks and foolishness.
Lis Truss post mortem
This has exposed the Tories as inept at doing the one thing they tout as their forte, stewards of the economy. Post brexit the UK is rudderless and without a clear vision of where it wants to be in the world. The core of the Tories, who never accepted Boris as one of their own, got a leader who was everything they wanted but had the leadership charisma of paper mache and NONE of the economic expertise. A Laissez-faire wet dream and it nearly killed the economy. Amazing she lasted 44 days. Sunac is their last hope, lets hope the Tories can sober up on their trickle down theories and not destroy the country.
My money is on Sunac will gut public spending and healthcare to the bone and tell everyone to tighten their belts for the tories mistakes. He will have 18 months to prove why labour shouldn't take the wheel and labour will have that long not to screw it up in the meantime. That's a tall order, you don't get someone like Boris running the show if thing are running smoothly.
