I always did like this guy!
Scape @ Tue May 12, 2020 2:04 pm
Ya, he was trending on Twitter last night and Cory Hart for some reason. He has since apologized for what that is worth. Now both sides hate him.
xerxes @ Tue May 12, 2020 2:12 pm
First he screws up the national anthem way back when, now this. Sheesh.
raydan @ Tue May 12, 2020 2:21 pm
Brian Adams is Peta, Vegan and screws up the national anthem.
3 strikes you're out.

It seems that Corey Hart trended because lots of people said he was always better than Adams.
Scape @ Tue May 12, 2020 3:37 pm
Well, it was in the heat of the night. People were looking for answers and chasing him down.
xerxes @ Tue May 12, 2020 3:56 pm

Brian Adams is now living proof that being right doesn't always mean you should voice your opinions publicly.
But before he ran his mouth about other peoples greed it would have been alot more palatable if the sanctimonious prick had been talking about the devastation this virus has caused to peoples lives and loved ones rather than "cancelled concerts". Because all that did was make him come off sounding like a whiny asshole.
Oh wait.
Scape @ Tue May 12, 2020 4:53 pm
Hey, that's a vegan asshole.
Thanos @ Tue May 12, 2020 5:36 pm
Too bad Adams apologized because he said nothing wrong to begin with. Whole damn world wrecked and tossed into chaos because the Chinese government is too corrupt and inefficient to put a stop to disgusting cultural practices involving animals that are notorious for carrying a variety of infectious diseases. Their indifference is no different than if Canada or the US knew that an entire herd of cattle with mad-cow disease got processed, went "meh" over the knowledge of what happened, and a couple years later thousands of people suffering from a literal swiss-cheese effect happening to their brains ended up dying from the tainted meat.
Let's get this straight once and for all:
- politicians, ESPECIALLY Donald Trump, are entirely responsible for the half-assed and ineffective responses to the epidemic
- the Chinese government is entirely responsible for the epidemic happening in the first place
It really isn't that difficult to understand. When it comes to deserving the blame China is at the very top of the list of culprits. Bryan Adams said nothing wrong.

*Yawn* In 1968/69 the Hong Kong Flu pandemic killed one million people. We had Woodstock happen and the economy wasn't shut down.
2002-2004: SARS epidemic which China ALSO lied about. While rather less contagious it had a substantially higher death rate. Toronto hosts an outdoor concert attended by thousands while the economy was kept running.
2020: SARS-CoV-2 breaks out of China, who lied about it. While rather more infectious than SARS, it's very highly survivable with a much lower fatality rate than SARS. Economies are shut down. Sitting in your car in a church parking lot is now "suspicious activity". Going to the cottage for the long weekend is verboten. The media keeps instilling fear in the population just like Y2K.
We're taking cues from a corrupt WHO, an organ of the corrupt UN, which seems to be taking its cues from China even though the fuckers lied about it. Bill Gates is on Youtube (and elsewhere) talking about his bullshit vaccine and pushing the "we're all gonna die if we don't listen to the govt" agenda while actual, real medical professionals are having their videos yanked for contradicting the narrative.
Think about it. The very people who are forcing this lock down and those enforcing it aren't suffering financially. Hell no, in fact our wonderful Parliamentarians even voted themselves a raise in the middle of all this.
Earlier today I saw an "ad" for some shirts you can buy thanking the front line workers and the money will go to help support them. I was more than a little offended. Think about it. They are asking people who have no income coming in for the appreciable future and haven't for weeks now, to help financially support people doing their damn jobs AND still getting a paycheque.
Maybe instead of shutting everything down, we should try and isolate those who are most at risk of dying from comorbidity if they get Covid and let the other 98+% of us get on with it.
As for the dream that some kind of cure or vaccine will come along soon and save us, might I remind you that we still haven't found either for SARS. Methinks we'll be waiting quite some time for anything that's "effective enough" for SARS-CoV-2. Outside of some snake oil Bill Gates is trying to sell.

Couple of thoughts: First off, no way in hell is Corey Hart better than Bryan Adams! Reckless is one of the best albums of the 80's. Original lyrics, great instrumentals. Corey Hart possibly could be a roadie for Bryan on his best day. Possibly.
Second off, where the hell are the agents for these people? If I were an agent I would have a strict no social media clause. No twitter, no instagram, no facebook, etc.,etc. How many careers have been ruined already because someone starts drinking and posting on social media? Lots of other people needlessly go down with the ship when these people put their foot in their mouths. All these celebs need to shut the hell up and stop running their careers into the ground. All public statements would be made through the agent. Any unauthorized public speaking would result in instant termination of any contracts, and severe fines. No one really cares what these people think. Shut the fuck up and read your lines, sing your songs, put your ball in the hoop, or do
whatever trivial thing it is that you do, and everything will go a lot smoother for everyone.

Agreed. Bryan Adams is much better than Corey Hart. Hell, Reckless was the first album I ever bought for myself when I was a lad. I still have it and I still listen to every now and then.
As for the second part, some are pretty good at social media, most are ok. Adams, I suspect is a tad aged to know how to use social media effectively and could really use a social media manager or something like that.

*Yawn* In 1968/69 the Hong Kong Flu pandemic killed one million people. We had Woodstock happen and the economy wasn't shut down.
1) You're comparing medical technology of the late sixties to now. The fact that we have a similar death rate to this with an advancement in medical technology immediately means covid is more dangerous.
2) There was never a lockdown of any kind during that time. They let it spread whole sale throughout the planet. It was also over two separate outbreaks over two years that this happened. We're at 300k deaths world wide with lockdowns, with current medical technology, and that's in only a few months. If we reacted to the same way that we did the hong kong flu, we'd have millions of dead world wide already. So this comparison sucks.
$1:
2002-2004: SARS epidemic which China ALSO lied about. While rather less contagious it had a substantially higher death rate. Toronto hosts an outdoor concert attended by thousands while the economy was kept running.
SARS infected 8000 people world wide. "rather less contagious" doesn't even begin to describe the differences. This comparison sucks even more.
$1:
2020: SARS-CoV-2 breaks out of China, who lied about it. While rather more infectious than SARS, it's very highly survivable with a much lower fatality rate than SARS. Economies are shut down. Sitting in your car in a church parking lot is now "suspicious activity". Going to the cottage for the long weekend is verboten. The media keeps instilling fear in the population just like Y2K.
Having a lower fatality rate doesn't matter when literally it's infected literally 500x more people in way less time under less favourable conditions for the virus.
$1:
Bill Gates is on Youtube (and elsewhere) talking about his bullshit vaccine and pushing the "we're all gonna die if we don't listen to the govt" agenda while actual, real medical professionals are having their videos yanked for contradicting the narrative.
They're having their videos yanked for spreading false and dangerous information. When the shit you post can result in people fucking dying, you bet it's gonna be yanked.
$1:
Think about it. The very people who are forcing this lock down and those enforcing it aren't suffering financially. Hell no, in fact our wonderful Parliamentarians even voted themselves a raise in the middle of all this.
Meaningless. It was stupid, but it also has nothing to do with why there is a lockdown.
$1:

Most financial raising efforts I've seen is to buy supplies for them, since they're running out. You know, part of the reason for the lockdown is so that they don't get overwhelmed, and this becomes even worse.
$1:
Maybe instead of shutting everything down, we should try and isolate those who are most at risk of dying from comorbidity if they get Covid and let the other 98+% of us get on with it.
Nope. Sorry, that's fucking stupid. This is killing people of all ages, and even people who recover may need to be in the hospital. That's why they were almost overwhelmed, and if that happens, people start dying for other reasons.
$1:
As for the dream that some kind of cure or vaccine will come along soon and save us, might I remind you that we still haven't found either for SARS. Methinks we'll be waiting quite some time for anything that's "effective enough" for SARS-CoV-2. Outside of some snake oil Bill Gates is trying to sell.
A vaccine won't come any time soon, but to shit on someone for trying to help develop a vaccine is height of stupidity.

Sorry.
