It's a shame that these parents feel they have to do such things. It isn't easy to live a life in fear. As much as the back packs may relieve some of the fears of the parents (although chances are if they're paranoid enough to buy these bags, their fear is too intense for anything to help) this is only going to put the fear into the child, who in all reality, if something happens in their school, wont even think about their back pack.
I know someone who's looking into buying one of those knife proof hoodies, and that was before he got stabbed.
Protecting your snacks with bulletproof material can lead to obesity.
hahahaha
Seems to me they've just provided body amour to the people who have the guns.

Good God, these businessmen are either really sick or really smart...
Maybe even both...
They're obviously tapping into the growing market for those with overpowering paranoia in the US.
But in all likelihood, those backpack will never even come close to doing that which they are designed to do.
What's next....full body armour?
As far as how effective the backpacks would be.......
Prior to the widespread adoption of body armour by Police.....A bullet proof clip-board saved a lot of injury to Police.
By the simple expedient that the relatively small clipboard could on approaching a stopped vehicle neutralize a firearm at close range. Much like the Medieval buckler.
A bullet proof clip board? Sounds like something out of James Bond.
Bullet proof jelly and Peanut butter sandwiches, there is an idea
I thought so too until an old conrade-at-arms, now Ohio State trooper, demonstrated his. Even with body armour he still carries his.
He claims it saved his butt at least once. He lost the end of a finger.
The key thing it is a close quarters shield.
