There's not much doubt he is mentally unstable and the switch just went off for this kid with no outside warning. This is a serious problem with males around that age, give or take 3-4 years. The wiring of the male brain isn't complete and as it grows something goes wrong and it can happen quite quickly. This is the age group that Schizophrenia starts to appear but is probably the extreme, although it may ultimately be what he has. We probably all know of someone who back in the day had it all together and now they're walking around downtown talking to themselves.
Happened to my nephew's friend about 4 years ago, a kid I knew very well at the time. First year university, ranked top 1 or 2 in Canada for his sport and quite smart. Around final exams he struggled through like any other, then publicly fell off the map. I'd ask my nephew about him and he'd just say he was laying low at home, but when university started back up he was taking the year off. I'd heard later that all of a sudden one day he started hearing voices and the voices were telling him to kill his parents. This kid is monster huge and could have easily done it bare handed, but instead thought he could escape by locking himself in the garage with the car running. He was found and hospitalized where it came out that there was much more going on. He spent that year getting treated and is back in school competing again at the highest of Canadian levels for his sport.
I would have NEVER believed this could happen so quickly if I didn't know him personally, but it literally happened with days. For a parent this is a frightening age group to survive.

What is it with these random stabbings lately?

Not enough access to guns.

You're literally right. Had these people had access to guns then all logic indicates they'd have used them because they were determined to kill. And in the absence of access to guns they found a means to kill anyway.

No idea how you prevent people like this from their acts. No idea at all.

Yup. If that Looney Tune had a gun, he would have killed twelve, fifteen instead of just five. In for a penny, in for a pound. I suppose that if everyone else had a gun, there would be fewer that twelve dead after the "merican thang" ended but you can be sure that there would be more than five.

The U.S.A. is the perfect template for Somalia and nowhere else.

That's the stupidest thing you've ever posted here, and that's saying something.

Your blatant anti-American everything is what makes me dislike so many of my fellow countrymen.

And another two stabbed with one killed in Vancouver yesterday. So, I guess the inability to acquire legal fire arms isn't going to stop the hardcore crazies from killing people.

Sad, but it would appear we're becoming Scotland light.

Bet you it reduces the number killed though.

Especially of the cops that had to confront him. Instead of the cops just shooting him, he might have shot a few of them first.

Another that comes to mind is Paul Ranger of the Leafs. He stepped away from pro hockey for personal reasons. You can bet dollars to donuts that he hit a dark space and had to step away from the world. Sometimes the voices are loud and sometimes they are soft. Sometimes there are nasty outcomes.

Don't you get tired of being told that the secret to solving violent crime is to arm everybody? Does that really add up for you? The Americans have no difficulty in pointing out flaws to us and it happens all of the time.

p.s. My people originally came from what is now the United States (after being there for 80 years) and they came here under extreme duress. There is little love lost ...

Truly a tragedy...

What I get tired of is your ability to consistently compare the US to some third world shithole. It shows that you don't have a fucking clue about the US but you do have a chip on your shoulder about them. Sadly, you are like a great number of our countryman who hate the US for the most ridiculous reasons.

I'll even bet you holiday in Cuba because Americans can't legally go there.

The ugly Canadian is alive and well in our country. :(

Ive been watching those two rancher threads on and off for a while and having quite chuckle in the background because what you might have said in humor or sarcasm is pretty much true.

Because the vision of the rightwing/conserative/Tebagger/republican or what ever the current label for that lot is ( I admit I am not very good with political ideology tags or completely understand them ) utopian paradise is a place where they have as many or any type of guns they want, hell even RPGs and MRLSs with almost a non existent government, and when the govt does try to implement or enforce any law you don't like you can call your armed to the teeth buddies and shoot the shit out of them is exactly the kind of place they despise the most and have fought and are fighting to get rid of i.e Wazirsitan, Afghanistan and Somalia :D

I've never been there and I would not take a vacation in a place with a one-party dictatorship ... not ever.

It shows that you don't have a fucking clue about the US

I've visited 46 of the States ... been to some of them literally dozens of times (and I don't mean while changing planes). How about you? How much of the U.S. have you seen? How much of Canada have you seen? In the Army. maybe lots but selective pieces too, I'll bet.

They tend towards anarchy. That seems to make a lot of them happy. BTW, if we drive straight south from this region, we encounter an America in GREAT decline. This ain't rich, prosperous Texas. Cities like Detroit have more Mogadishu about them than Manhattan. It does not make me happy but a big part of the U.S. is literally falling apart and they have the wealth to stop it but not, apparently, the organisational ability to stop it anymore. Having worked in a U.S. owned business for few years and daily dealing with American customers who are supposed to be "technical people", I can say for certain that their educational system is grossly inferior to what we have. This is a one-way ticket to the third world, alright.

Perhaps, soldiering, as noble a profession as it is, does not necessarily produce well rounded intellects.

I had just read that thread and I had exactly that in mind. I do not wish to live in a Canada like that. It is not on the horizon either except for some bits on the extreme fringe.
