Clearly banning the flag was the best option, not teaching the students to not fight over flags.

You'd think USians would also celebrate someone's victory over the French.

Sounds like a good day not to go to school then.

That would definitely undermine most of Social Studies.
Most of my Yankee social studies curriculum taught that all wars are idiotic, even the necessary ones.

We were taught that the American Revolution wouldn't have been necessary if the Brits had given the colonies votes in Westminster.

Yes indeed.

Many nations get to celebrate victory over the French; Russia, Mexico, Vietnam, Great Britain and Germany (to name a few).
The main argument that I have is that is that I still have a hard time with the idea that in a school in California, USA it is Politically Correct to ban wearing the American flag because it might offend somebody.
How would it sound if a school were to consider banning wearing the Canadian flag in Ontario because some Americans there might might be offended.
Yes, I have a few old fashioned ideas, while this ban may be expedient it sucks.

Very silly. Not wearing US flag in the USA? This is crazy. They should be able to wear it all year round. And how exactly does the US flag conflict with a Mexican holiday? Strange.
This is the end of the USA as we know it, I guess...

Russia doesn't celebrate it, meaning, there are no celebrations of any kind at all.
But they remember the war of 1812 with Napoleon I very well.

That may be why the line "No taxation without representation" was repeated so often in that section of your class. It was the line that started the Boston tea party.

Russia doesn't celebrate the end of The Great Patriotic War? I thought that what the aptly named 'Victory Day' was....

Oh yes, this is the biggest celebration ever.
But I clearly was responding to the post about Russia celebrating victory over the French. In case of WWII, it was Nazi Germany...
