Looks fragile.

DrCaleb @ Tue Feb 17, 2015 8:16 am

It's OK, CM. They won't be issues any ammo for it anyway so it won't matter. :(

Canadian_Mind @ Tue Feb 17, 2015 8:54 am

eh?

A story we had last week.

$1:
A soldier that serves in the Princess Patricia's Light Infantry (PPCLI), one of the most revered and respected infantry units of the past century, has told me that they are allocated only 49 rounds for the entire training year due to budget cuts. The PPCLI's service in World War I and II and Korea and thereafter is what legends are made of. Yet now they train with less than 50 bullets a year.

I've got about 120,000 rounds of 7.62×51mm I'd be willing to donate. Someone's going to have to arrange the shipping and paperwork, though, because I can't afford to ship this much ammo through official channels.

Problem solved!!!

BartSimpson @ Tue Feb 17, 2015 10:29 am

If the CF would accept donations of ammunition I'd be happy to get out the message on various gun forums and etc. and I imagine we could get you folks a few million rounds within a month or so.

I bought my ammo as surplus back before anyone sh*t themselves at the thought of someone having more than a brick of .22 in their house. What's funny is I bought the ammo and never bought anything that can use it. Yes, I have a .308 rifle but the NATO round is kind of wimpy even though it will chamber.

Sounds like a plan :D Shame Stevo into action :P

But we must never forget: the Liberals would be worst and we all know what the NDP would be up to

Been a long time now since the CF used 7.62mm ammunition.

Yea, that's about what I had to practice with. Just enough for a yearly familiarisation shoot. Not enough to really practice with and get your marksmanship skills down. That said, I was armoured. I'd hope the infanteers got more practice than just the yearly famil.

At least the USMC in Nevada has plenty of ammo for training lol. Geez a Light Infantry Base and only 50 rounds for training?? Who the heck is in charge of the Canadian Army?? A true General or a dumb political bozo??

Nope. We still use 7.62mm today. Our MG'S are 7.62mm and 5.56mm.

The fifty rounds is for a personal qualification shoot. There is plenty of ammunition. Bullshit story by the hacks at Huffpost.
