Funny how the differences between the 2 missions are lost on this group.
The indonesia mission started with the usual political dithering and almost a month`s delay to get the water equipment (a company that Paul Martin owned shares in) in place, because we had to borrow someone elses aircraft.
There`s still a whole lot of recriminations over the speed of the aid and questions remain about where all that money Canadians donated has gone.

On this mission, we had a help plan in place and aid on the ground almost immediately. The speed of the decision and the availability of transport was totally different. I`d say that warrents a new and improved!

It`s the difference between having you`re own car and waiting for a bus.

As I recall it was the price tag not the utility that was the issue when the debate was on the purchase. Also, it wasn't only the Russian and US heavy lift that was being looked at FYI.
