People use Cuba's Universal Health care like it's something to hold over peoples heads...thing is saying you have universal health care and actually having good universal health care are two completely different things. Canada struggles to have good health care and we're Canada!

here are the differences between the two systems

Canada: I'm sorry sir, you have cancer. You'll need to undergo therapy, chemo and years of treatment, visits to the doctor every week for the next few years and use expensive machinery and thousands of dollars worth of cancer treatment to fight it off. All of the worlds best medical technology will be used in the process

Cuba: I'm sorry sir, you have cancer. NEXT!

I cannot believe there is ANYONE in favour of Fidel Castro... Ones of the biggest scums alive at the moment.

I hope his son will do better for the country, and a little less for just himself... (yeah, I know, wishfull thinking :?)

it's his bro, not his son. but I catch your drift

That's all the black market takes when your driving on those back roads to buy goods.
American greenbacks only, thats what buys you healthcare in cuba, good ol American dollars,Canadian dollars are looked at like mexican peso's or Canadian tire dollars.your hero wasnt exactly worried about his countrymen and woman.

I wonder who his sucessor is gonna be. If it is his brother...at 76 -> How long could he do the job. Something is gonna give. I wonder if the CIA has been working to put one of their boys in power?

Fidel's brother is already set to be his successor. He's probably been taking care of most affairs since Fidel went to the hospital a while back. It's probably for the best if Raul is the successor for now, it sounds like he has some policies up his sleeve that will make things better for a lot of Cubans, including an increase in wages.

How long will it take for them to have open and fair elections?

Better yet will they petition statehood so US 1 can be extended to Havana.

I'm always stunned at the Canadians who have a love-affair with Cuba.

uck!

I find most pro-Castro Canadians are either:

a) Communists
b) Anti-American

Lets label it for what it is: a dictatorship. An "election" with the only choice being the Communist Party is not democratic. But somehow left wingers have a love affair with this country...

Look at all the Cubans who fled to Florida...a rare ethnic minority heavy Republican voting bloc.
