CF-18s intercepted Russian plane before Obama visit

They just wanted their timmies is all.
JustKate JustKate:
Just had a military expert on CTV from Calgary. He said the Russian's have been testing our reaction time and radar for the past two years. They want the northern resources, therefore they're testing us.
Was that "expert" Peter Mackay ? lol .. his rambo attempt with the " back off "
comment constitutes to-days chuckle.

I agree, the Russians are not wasting gas tooling around our airspace for nothing.
They are there to send a message to us.
We should hear them, and be ready to respond.
They never came into our airspace though,so what's different then the thousand's of other time's they have done this?
Why is it such a big deal now?
Obama was in town, think the media might have played on that fact just a bit?
Thousands of times? I didn't think it was that many, but lets compare that with how many times we've flown patrols near Russian airspace in Siberia...
Oh wait, we don't.
If Russia attacked Barack Obama, then World War III would start. this worries me, i think Russia is planning something, Vladimir Putin is up to something, you cant trust them either.
Better nuke Russia before they do.

Tinfoil moment.
Did we shoot down one of the Russian bears last week? They story keeps changing it seems all day. Sound's like one aircraft was escorted away, then reports come out about two aircrafts. Am I the only one that caught this?
Christ on a crutch...
somebody has been shaking the walnut tree too hard....the nuts are dropping left(mostly), right and centre.

They showed this picture on CTV saying it's from 2007. Same situation, same aircraft. The Russian aircraft looks armed to me. Isn't that a missile pointing toward our f-18?

It's likely a MAD (Magnetic Anomaly Detector) boom used for ASW.
Please stop with the hysterics...

Find something more likely to worry about... like job security or tax hikes.

We use to shadow Russian 'Trawlers' frequently. I think the movie, The day After was one of the scariest ones that I've ever seen. Over here we still have air raid drills and those sirens give me the creeps.

As you're able to post and not a mere shadow on the sidewalk, you heard wrong.
They
didn't enter Canadian airspace. NOBODY is claiming that.
They won't unless we're so obviously slow to scramble they know they
could AND they have orders to try from Moscow.
The only country on Earth with better planes than those 'obsolete Hornets' are the Yanks, so stop calling down everything Canadian and pretending you're being patriotic. The same Cdn Hornets that the USA asked us to send to cover Alaska while their planes were in refit.
Russia is even telling people it was one of these just to save some face:

We should tell them to send one, so we can intercept it and take pictures and both of our countries can wag our fucking tails even more.
And Red Dawn was great. I never laughed so hard in my fucking life. Reaganist Hollywood's very own "Der Ewige Jude".

You said it mate. This is "Cold War Part II". This time they are not up for invading Germany, they just want our Arctic.
If there was ever a case for re-arming for a new threat, the Russians have packaged it up nicely for us.
This is the time for Air Command to get a bit closer to the action.
Now is also the right time for CFS Alert to get a 10,000 foot runway and hardened shelters, oh and maybe some AA missiles.
We Brits always thought a few 'Argentinean whalers' were a bit of a joke too. Then they invaded the Falklands and we lost 250 guys and four ships taking it back.

And what would you do kenmore? Order a blood test?
Stick to what you know and leave those patients on the gurney for 12 hours or so.
I would think our Minister of National Defence may have a bit more gen/info on this stuff than a sneering nurse from New France.
Hey nice to see you easy going New France types were all for the battle re-enactment. You are such welcoming folk.
Albatross.
