Chavez wants to be dictator for life. Give it a few years and Venezuela will have death camps and a 'healthcare system' every bit as nice as Cuba's.

And, just like his amigo, Fidel, Chavez will know better than to trust his own country's doctors.

meh

Chavez is kinda kooky and he may very well turn into a Dictator, but this particular event is being blown way out of proportion.

By doing this he has merely acheived what is already perfectly acceptable in Canada and many other Western Democracies.

Criticize him for legitimate issues.

And what is that?

Hmm, I don't know anyone who has extended their term limits against popular opinion in the West. Heck, even when Rosevelt, who could legally run for a 3rd term recieved a ton a flak because of that. Not surprisingly, they put a limit on that.

Simply put, power must be handed down to each generation. Sure, it might be nice to have someone who runs the country well for 30 years, but after they die, the country is left in a fragile state because they are so used to one man being in charge. Countries need leadership change so democracy can function and the next generation isn't left limbless.

A person can be PM in Canada as many times as the Electorate chooses to Elect them. 1x, 2x, 10x, are all perfectly acceptable.

That is not exactly what Chavez wants though...

Chavez wants to gets himself installed for life before the next election in 5 years, that doesn't have to take place then. He needs to change the constitution for that before that date, and if he accomplishes that, he will be president till he dies.

Not a word of him reducing working hours from 8 to 6 hours or the dramatic changes he's made for the poor and destitute. 7 years? SO WHAT? He's a dictator now? Talk about jumping to fucking conclutions up in nja.

Brenda @ Fri Aug 17, 2007 12:28 am

You think Chavez is good for Venezuela, AND for the worlds safety?

ShepherdsDog @ Fri Aug 17, 2007 12:41 am

of course he does.... the lefties and their collective conciousness can't abide dissension.
