Canadian
I'm waiting for all the usefull idiots to change from their hyper-nationalism to their "capitalism is evil" mantra.
Canada should terminate all trade links with this country.
Pull our embassy staff too.
firs we take the money, then we take the women, then we got the power,
an those stinking gringo bastards can do nothing about it !!
viva la revolucion !!!
Negotiate a value for the Mine. Use Trade and Relations as a bargaining Chip to ensure the Company is properly Compensated.

ROTFL

Chavez doesnt pay for it, he just takes it.
thats why its called Nationalization,
not buying the company for a fair price.
but thanks, i needed a good laugh.

That's why I said "Negotiate". Not much, but at least try before just cutting all ties first.

Venezuela is a risky place to invest, I'm sure the Canadian company knew that. Sucks though.

To properly negotiate with Hugo Chavez you'll need this:

Haven't had one of those for almost 40 years... guess we have no real leverage.

And now that Obama is going to be president we won't have much leverage either. Obama's friends all love Chavez so I just don't see him helping Canada get proper compensation for this seizure.
McCain & Palin, on the other hand, would've gleefully parked the 4th Fleet off of Caracas in order to convince Hugo to pay up.

Not sure why my taxes should pay to re-take a risky investment some private Canadian company made abroad... ? Forcefully or otherwise.

Fair enough, business is business.
But, agreements were made and signed.
It behoves any government to honor those agreements, and
if they nationalize something, fair compensation should be paid.
Companies are having the same kind of fun in Russia,
at least the Russians arent stupid enough to completely shut the
companies out.
I doubt Chavez gives a shit.
Let all Canadians invested in Latin America be warned......

Which would have jacked up oil prices yet again, further hurting the world economy and giving other enemies of America like Iran even more money to play with.

So much for democracy in Venezuela.
