Well that was an assinine retort. Let's see, he's in a parade driving an antique tractor. And despite the mind-numbing speed that parades are known to travel at, I'm pretty sure the officer in question could have positioned himself so as to get his attention visually?
Certainly a taser is an appropriate response to prevent a collision at a whopping 3-4 mph.

Public, I never really go for comment on these things that involve our US counterparts for various reasons:
1. Yank cops vary hugely on competence, training and accountability compared to Canadian cops. As in we are way more accountable than they are.
2. The press/media story is usually slanted against the cops, but it sells advertising space, hey they gotta make a living!
3. We should wait to see what happens in court before passing judgement.

Yeah that's true. In a different thread I mentioned that I've run across wayyyy more good or cool cops than idiots. But yeah, that ratio does drop dramatically when I factor in my experiences in the States.

...and I don't for one second believe that 99.99999999999999 etc. of all cops would Taser someone out of spite.
This story is so full of holes about what ACTUALLY happened, but a rational person is not going to fire a Taser at an elderly person without cause, and while there are a lot of cops I wouldn’t want as a friend, I’ve studied enough of them to have a pretty good understanding of what triggers most actions.
