The official Conservative estimate is $8 billion - meaning that the actual figure is certainly much higher.

A complete waste of money.

   

We'll just take it out of arts funding.

   

He might as well give his consent to release it. People are just going to make their own assumptions anyway. It's good to see an elected government in Afghanistan, no Al Queada training camps, and increased women's rights.

   

That's what the Taliban would do.

   

Taliban arts funding... yeah.
Besides, artists are only suposed to get weathy when they die.

   

What does the cost matter? We are gone in 2011, and its not like we can view Afghanistan as a failure because the opposition thinks it cost to much.

   

Actually the Taliban shot artists and destroyed artwork. They wouldn't even THINK of funding it

   

I think that we deserve to know how much the war is costing us. There is no reason to keep it a secret except to cover Harper's incompetent ass anyway.

   

What incompetence? What ever money was spent on the war was obviously needed. Let's not forget how our soldiers got to Afghanistan.

   

Does that count the 6 years under the Liberals or just the 2 years of Harper?

Oh yeah.. you folks are still hoping that the Canadian voters forget that Chretien started this. The Liberals are also desperate to convince us that Afghanistan is Iraq, Harper is Bush, and if we vote Dion in, the decades of promises will finally all come true.

Oh, I wanna know the whole cost, from start to finish, Riden. I was against it when Chretien got us involved, I was against it when Martin stepped it up, and I'm still against it. Not being he one who started it is no excuse for keeping the costs hidden though. Keeping those costs hidden is political cowardice, excusing it is even worse.
