Religion is religion...a spiritual belief. What a person does to or with her body is this person's business only. The wearing of the hijab is dumb, ignorant, controlling....

This story makes me mad....and sad.

well no one would convince me it wasnt about religion and control over female muslims...the canadian islamic counsels comment that it was a teen issue makes me puke.. do they think we just fell off a cabbage truck? my kids go to school with some muslim girls in the GTA and some actually take it off and put in on when they leave school.. reminds me of my Catholic school days.. used to take the dress pants off and put jeans on to go home... was caught a few times but no one offed me... Im still here :)

$1:
The two groups and 18 other Muslim groups in an open letter to prosecutors asked for the strongest possible prosecution of her killer, and "zero tolerance for violence of any kind against women or girls."

Actually they are correct as far as the Hijab not being an Islamic requirement.

However, it's not what is the religion but what these individuals perceive their religion to be. Suicide and attacking innocents is forbidden by Islam but there is no shortage of either occurring.

The other aspect is the public statement and the message in the mosque......

In the days following 911, the public denunciation was contradicted by the celebration inside the mosque. Confusing?? Yes! This why some of these guys bleep out of turn when they get excited.

How Pakistan ever had a female leader confuses the hell out of me.
