I hope you old folks on this site enjoy the continued destruction of the Star Wars franchise. I believe Mr. Plinkett (Red Letter Media) is probably having a heart attack at the news.

I think the guy has survived worse. I swear he remembers when Millard Filmore was president.

After the introduction of Jar-Jar Binks, I thought the last few Star Wars were made by Disney anyway.

Does that mean Disney replaced him with an incredibly lifelike Muppet since the 90s? That would explain much.

Thank God somebody knew who I was talking about. He did survive the Titanic sinking as well...but oh boy. I thought the series was dead and buried, when it came to movies. The angry Star Wars nerds...oh boy.

Mr Plinkett has all ready tweeted in on this:

$1:
No need to inform us of the Lucasfilm/Disney situation. We are aware. The internet imploded in on itself immediately after the announcement.

Knowing Disney the next Star Wars movie will have to feature gay and lesbian characters not to mention an appearance by Lindsay Lohan.

I couldn't care less about the gay/lesbian characters, but if 'Lilo' is dressed in a similar get-up to Princess Leia in Return of the Jedi (ala the prison barge scene), I'm all for it! [drool]

Only if they get Lohan as she looked in "Mean Girls", not her blech, crack addicted form now.

Disney buying Lucas is a good thing. Anything that gets Lucas OUT of the biz.

Exactly.

I'm reminding myself that as poor as Eps 1 to 3 were with Lucas in charge, Disney's sci-fi efforts of their own (Tron 2, John Carter Of Mars) were even worse. And that Lucas has nothing to do with them in terms of writing or directing. Yes, it can get worse and Disney's more than capable of doing exactly that all on their own.

You really don't absolutely have to roll in here and utterly destroy that thin facade of pathetic hope being exercised here.

What Thanos said. Just because Lucas won't be retroactively destroying his movies doesn't mean Disney won't pick up the slack.

Frankly, I'm not even excited at the prospect of a new movie either. The only Star Wars thing I'm looking forward to is this series being made by some of the Robot Chicken people.
