This is something the Pentagon has been planning for years but nothing will really happen as China cares more about economic survival than confrontation. The Cold War never ended it just switched over to China until Russia became major player again and now there's 3 players with self serving interests.

There may be a war but it will be a trade war. China will end up having to decide if they want their workers employed or idled when the civilized world stops trading with them.
I also expect that President Trump is right now discussing how best to protect the soon-to-be independent Republic of Taiwan as a retaliatory measure against China for seizing territory.
